A few suggestions for the scouting system.
I’d like to see a more in-depth scouting system. Perhaps have a small section of the franchise mode dedicated to tracking the current (generated) college season, and the stories involved. I believe that this would allow for not only a more educated guess at who to draft, but it would increase the “I’m actually the GM…” feeling. Individual achievements could be brought into detail, like a great season by a non-BCS team (Marshall, Tulane, SMU, ect.) and the emergence of their leader as a star, or a courageous effort by a sole player dealing with an injury (ala Bryon Leftwich). Weekly updates in those areas would be very nice, and would give us, the players, more of a feel for who we want in the draft due to actual player personality and their college accomplishments.
Another thing could be hiring scouts to view players during the season, much like the off-season combine system. You are allotted a certain amount of “scouts” to place on certain players (or maybe whole teams/regions/conferences) and they give back a weekly or bi-weekly report on the play of whom you selected. Where the previous idea above dealt with a general summary of the week within the NCAA season, this would go into specific statistical detail, and maybe a line or two about their actual playing mechanics (again, much like the current combine recruiting).
Now, I know that both of these things are potentially impossible for many reasons, but their inclusion within the game certainly would delight me. I am simply very realistic in my outlook, and I know the problems that could occur with the NCCA in an attempt to make these ideas happen.
