1. First and foremost, I wish they had a random factor on player attributes. Randy Moss isn't the best WR EVERY week. Payton isn't the best QB every week. This is what I would like to see:
Every game, each player has a chance to have his attributes changed for that game. From 5% to 10% of his attribute will go up or down. Lets say you were playing the Steelers. Hines Ward has an overall of 90. That score can vary 4-9 points. He may have a down day and only play at an 81, or have a breakout day and play like a 99. After the game starts, you can look at your depth chart and see how your guys are playing (players playing above thier normal stats would be in green, those playing worse would be in red).
2. Somehow have created teams names spoken. It sucks to hear Michaels say "The Green Bay Packers visiting... the Home Team".
3. This has been said more than once, but it would be nice to have the CPU offer trades, not only to you but among all teams. At the end of each week, and during off season, you would randomly see notices like, "The Vikings have traded Randy Moss to the Jets for Chad Pennington and a R2 draft choice". Draft day trades would be great.
4. Tag players as Franchise players.
5. Implement signature moves, like Holmes 'glide' as he runs into the end zone.
6. Have free agency before the draft and after.
7. Have the ability as owner to retire jerseys.
8. Have off-field problems effect players every once in a while. Maybe once a season, you would see a notice like "The Ravens Ray Lewis will miss the next 5 games due to a court appearance on assault charges". OK, maybe not that severe, but something along those lines.
9. Along those same lines, have attitude and locker room presence a part of the game. In video game world, the 49ers would never have gotten rid of T. Owens, but he was a locker room cancer for them and needed to go. I really don't know how to make this work, but it would be cool to see.
10. Have injuries effect attributes. I have seen players miss most of the year with an ankle or knee injury show up to training camp with nary a scratch. You would think his speed / agility / acceleration would suffer some.
All sounds pretty neat but everyone has to understand that Madden cannot and never will have "off-the-field problems" merely because it would degrade the actual individual. These players can go off and sue the hell out of EA Sports for making them look like problems, even if they really are.
It's realistic, but it just ain't gonna happen... ever.

No, I said the changes would take effect 'for that game'. Players would revert back to the normal attribute after the game. Someone with a 51 could range from 46 to 56 during a game.
But thanks for responding.
As for off-the-field stuff, you have a good point QB8. I didn't think of the legal ramifications. But I would like to see something implemented to reflect more 'real -life' stuff. Aside from game related injuries, no player ever misses a game for any reason EVER in Madden-World. But I guess thats why its called a 'game'... it ain't real life.
The best off-the-field issues that Madden can implement are practice injuries. These injuries can occur on their own and in affect change your gameplan each week. Also, injuries suffered in games or practice can be extended and/or the length of time being unavailable can increase or decrease.
I just think you do not get injured enough in this game... I want more injuries! Hehe.
Thanks for very good posts Harty. Keep it up!

I like the suggestions, all of them sound great, but yeah they'll never be able to have the actual off the field stuff. That's what got Playmakers cancelled.

good ideas. i have to say it annoys the **** out of me when you scout a player and it says great locker room presence- if the guy does lets see it or have it effect the game. so pre-game you see anything that was said prior to the game, or have a stat for morale, the better locker room talk or the better your team plays the higher morale.
