Running the Ball
Is it just me or is it damn near impossible to run the ball effectively in 09?
At first I just thought it was the overrated lines in the 3-4 defenses cause all the newbs like to play with teams just cause of their rating (Patriots, Cowboys, Chargers etc.)
It was just ridiculous, my line was never getting a drastic push. I know I was playing as the Panthers, and their line isn't amazing, but they're good enough and have a good rushing game but to no avail. I always ended up with 3rd and long.
The range of running plays in the playbook is just stupid also, a lot of the good ones from 08 you could just put a hat on a hat and just power run it. Now I've got this stupid crap in which their are 4 receivers on a running play.............
Anyway I really hope EA does through some updates or w/e to fix this.
I really hope this doesn't have to with ratings solely, cause you should be able to be effective no matter if your player isn't rated 99, with 5 crushing run blockers on the line. It should be more about skill and play calling/adapting etc.

I also am having alittle trouble running the ball...umm dont know why using Dallas and Barber is getting like 50 yards a game for me....just crazy i cant run the ball at all

Running is a little challenging this year but its not impossible if you can find those running lanes in time enough gain positive yardage. I think it is pretty realistic because gaining 100 yards on the ground is not exactly a walk in the park when you have 225-250 lbs. linebackers looking to knock your head off in every running play. I put a lil over 100 yds. up on the stat sheet with LT on 28-30 carries with no major breakout runs just hard yards on the ground. I can live with that because that seems real.

I've only played one game and I had trouble running too.. but I have confidence that I will master it with a few more games of practice... LT on 30 carries should be getting 120+ though

i had trouble running the ball too.
In the Madden Test, i got all madden on the rushing offense but only because its real easy when you have 3 blockers, you just wait for them to block then u juke to the sides. So i play all my games on "My Skill" level and because my Madden IQ for rushing is All Madden, I cant run at all. Peterson gains about 20 yards a game, if that. Rushing is insane on All Madden, the LB's are everywhere and the safety always comes up to stop the run. I have Bryant McKinnie and Steve Hutchinson on the left side of my line and they are both crusing run blockers, and they still dont block, the D-Line and LB's blow right by them and stop me for a loss of 3, I started playing my games on All-Pro setting instead of My Skill and I can run decent on that, but screw My Skill, the Madden Test is easier than the actual game.

The only 100 yard game I had was with Darren McFadden....I been playing alot with Dallas and cant get the 100 yards with Barber or Jones. I had a game where I had run the ball 30 times ttal with both of them and only got 100 yards

Well.. here is part of the problem.. everyon starts out doing the stupid trainer.. that is basically a game of simon says..
And EVERYONE. (even my 5 year old daughter) gets all-madden on the drill.. which makes the CPU a monster at stopping your run. Face the music most of you are not that good.. and the drill sucks..
Bring down your skill level in running the ball.. and you will run better.
