Id like to see defensive players do better coming in from ncaa to madden. It seemed to me that all defensive players never got better, but only worse. and they would come in rated really high, but just couldnt hack it. in return just getting worse and worse. And offensive players got really good, so then over time you would have good offenses and crappy defenses.
i drafted LaRon Landry as an 87 FS and he's now a 93 FS. I drafted Anthony Spencer as an 81 LOLB and he's now an 83 LOLB after winning Defensive Player of the Year NFL, LB of the Year NFL and Pro Bowl in his first season. Players who play closer to the line on defense don't seem to get much of a ratings/talent bump EVER, while on the offensive side, every position has the ability to really increase in ratings due to you being able to play every position pretty effectively (ie, blocking with linemen, QB, RB, WR, etc etc).
yeah it really do depends because I also drafted laron landry and he was a 89 and WR calvin johnson was predicted as a 1st/2nd rounder and turned out to be only an 82.
My major gripe is the speed drop off. Players get awareness easy if you play them. The'll also get tackling, and other progression atributes as long as they do well. But it really sux when you have a linbacker that's an 86-88 in college and then the transfer to nfl he's an 82-84. Oh, and when importing draft classes, there isn't a single player with 99 on speed. 98 is the highest rating and that goes to select corners, wide-outs and running back that have 99 in college only get 97 in there rating if they're lucky. Tight ends usually get a 5 speed point reduction when the transition is made. It's very rare to have a tight end that has a speed rating over 80. I had to compinsate for speed by switching a big wide reciever to tight end so he can be fast in the nfl, the problem with that is that his strength ins't anywhere near a regular tight ends.
Well in real life players don't always transition well from the college ranks. College speed is a hell of a lot different than NFL speed remember guys.

Since the biggest new feature is gang-tackling, they're certainly focusing on defense this year. You're probably going to get your wish.
Is it just me, or does Madden seem to alternate Offensive tweeks and goodies to Defensive tweaks and goodies every year?
Well... I'd say it's just following the ups and downs of the game just like the real NFL. Nurf and create new penalties...
But then... They've been on a offensive helping kick for a while now. So...

Now now, the speed of the game changes, not the speed of the player. Neon Dion Sanders was super fast in college, and guess what.....he was super fast in the nfl. Michael Vick is another example of this. People's individual speed don't change.
UH we are talking about NCAA to Madden here.. and yes speed goes down a lot from NCAA to Madden on draft class imports.. Go try it and see for yourself

Ok, good. In my opinion, you're an idiot. Good thing I can't be wrong!

The problem is that NCAA is a different game and they make players faster in NCAA than what they should be in madden in order to run options, etc... It's not that the players shouldn't be made slower when moved to Madden, its that the players shouldn't be that fast to begin with.
