some changes
Here are the things, at least suggestions, that could and should be done to make the game more realistic and more enjoyable.
1. Have different post and pre-game celebrations and preparations
2. Have better side-line and crowd details, nothing big, just better
3. Have specific player celebrations (TO, Chad Johnson, etc.) and bring back the classics, like the on-going lambeau leap, maybe even some team celebrations, whatever, just some new and creative ones, and more of them.
4. Have different varieties of escaping and breaking tackles, as well as allowing the quarterback to evade a sack and get off a throw more often
5. Have more minor injuries and less severe ones, and actually have the player's injury play a role in them being hurt or not. Also, have the option of playing an injured player, and putting him at further risk.
6. Make the speed more realistic. Vince Yound and Michael Vick are not nearly as fast as previous games have guessed. You could say the same for Randy Moss. No one on the game should max out on anything to start with. That should be something you have to build on.
7. Make the referees actually somewhat intelligient, and not miss easy plays or call bogus ones.
8. Allow easier editing of players positions (allow any position change) as well as their information and ages.
9. Don't have all the player's information and stats of previous seasons be swiped clean into "not available" simply by re-adjusting rosters.
10. Make team intelligience realistic. If the Cardinals are really bad, you really shouldn't lose to them more than 2 out of 10 times, even if you're playing terrible.
11. Have the ability to play anybody at any situation in substitutions by the depth chart, but have their skill set severely effect their play. Also, if you put Antwan Randle El at QB, he'd have roughly 70 AWR, 69 ACC, and 72 THP. Or the same with Matt Jones. Anyone who played quarterback in college should be able to fair decently if playing in the NFL as well.
12. Have an option to lure retiring players out of retirement.
13. Have an increase of career ending injuries. Again, allow teams to coax even these players back to playing.
14. Have the game not forget about retired players as if they are nothing and their accomplishments go unnoticed through the course of a franchise. Have a team Hall of Fame, as well as a registered career leader section and Pro Football Hall of Fame. This should be included both in season and franchise modes, as well as a current Hall of Fame and career leader section in the main menu. This way, all of your time spent playing this game is accounted for, in some manner.
15. No more players walking through each other or through refs.
16. Have a coach mode, alot like EA Sports' Coach.
17. Add better depth in free agency. Make sure all trhe big names that are not on teams are there. Even guys like Eric Crouch and Antonio Freeman could be in free agency. They aren't retired. They deserve a chance to be signed if you need them bad enough.
18. Bring back old players like Steven Young and Marino, as well as many others, so we can re-live the old days of Madden 2003. Have the photos, the stats, and all the information.
19. When you have hall of fame and all-star teams, have the rosters already filled in, with all the names, pictures, and stats. NBA 2k can do it, so can Madden.
20. If you play through the entire post-season and pro-bowl, have each game effect player's attributes and morale. The Pro-Bowl should not be just a free-bee. If your player who finally made it to the big show plays well, it should boost his attributes and morale.
21. Injuries should drop player's morale and attributes, no matter the severity. A season ending injury should drop a player's awareness. This should also tie in with specific injuries. If a player tears his knee up, his speed and acceleration should dip at least a little bit, at least for the first year he comes back.
22. Have added attributes that effect the overall rating of a player and maybe even coaches. For players, certain things like clutch ability and situational attributes should be accounted for. Awareness should be broken down into a few categories, and not just they are either aware or they are not.
23. Better and advanced options in Super Star Mode. It slows down at a point and gets very boring and repetitive. Have more goals and things to reach for. Also, if the player wins the MVP, his first game/playoff game and superbowl, it should be a big deal.
There are just a few things I would love to see added to the game. In recent years, I have been very happy with things like the hit stick, defensive controls, and rather dissapointed with quarterback vision and hot routes/playmakers. I would much rather see alot of these details I have laid out be added and improved, versus some high-tech designed way to play the game. The game play is as good as its going to get where its at. Madden must not look at improving the inside of the game, the heart, if you will.
