Detroit Lions Pre-Season Game (4) Press Conference

"Hello everybody. It's good to have the pre-season finally over. One of the main concerns of this team going into the pre-season was having injuries to any critical position on our team. Having a little luck and keeping those key players benched allowed to exit the pre-season without any serious injuries to our starting players.

Now, as far as our game against the Bills goes, I'm happy to say that I was proud of how most of our guys played out there.

Dan Orlovsky has given us some confidence over these past two games and we're happy to have him as our back up. Gibran Hamdan also did fairly well and will remain on our roster as the 3rd String QB for the season.

Our running backs did pretty well in this game, despite not seeing significant carries in this game or the pre-season in general - we hope that won't translate into the regular season as Kevin Jones is ready to go. Brian Calhoun will back up Kevin and we've been happy with how he's ran in the pre-season. He should see playing time during the regular season.

Our receiving corps did pretty well as a whole. Cedrick Wilson looked great out there in what was his first real playing time during the pre-season. We believe both him and Mike Furrey played well in this game, putting up good numbers.

The offensive line has played superb this pre-season, one of the few places we started most of our players (minus a few key players on the line).

Our defense did all right. We think our run defense will vastly improve with all of our starters in, as will the pass defense, which we thought was pretty good this pre-season, except on a few occasions. One thing we'd like to improve on is getting more turnovers which gives our offense a spark.

Special teams was great, we have two really good kickers on our team in Cundiff and Hanson. Both will likely make the roster too. Punts could use some improvement and we're not opposed to looking for a punter in FA or via trade. KR/PR has been good, Jeremy Bloom has done a really good job. It's our hope Eddie Drummond and Jeremy Bloom will give us one of the best special teams units.

All in all, we think we did well despite losing this game, and look forward to the regular season. Any questions?"
