A tall, young looking man of about 6'3 steps in front of the podium. Dressed in a black suit with a bright blue tie, he looks eagerly at the media gathered infront of him. He seems to carry about him an upbeat and confident presence as he looks around the room, and at some press gathered.
Anthony: "Hello everyone, it's good to be here. As you may know already I'm the new owner and General Manager of the Detroit Lions, Alex Anthony."
Anthony pauses a moment as the press and media applaud. With a confident look on his face, he continues..
Anthony: "First off, let me say, what an honor is to be the new owner and general manager of this franchise. The Detroit Lions were one of the original founding NFL teams, and with that comes high expectations and a history of greatness to continue. I'm very excited to try and help the Lions return to the playoffs, and hopefully, get this franchise their first Super Bowl win."
Once again, he pauses as those assembled applaud, his brown eyes shift towards the cameras, as though he intends to speak solely to the fans of the Detroit Lions - and not just the press.
Anthony: "I know you, the fans, all have questions as to some of the moves I've made during the off-season, particularly the trading of both Roy Williams and Dre Bly. Why we did feel Roy and Dre offered some great things to this team, and we wish them the best, we felt in order to make this team better for the future we had to make some moves to acquire more draft picks in order to re-build this team with youth. Trading them was a tough decision, but for what we got in return we felt it more than justifiable. We also made some other great trades, such as bringing in Will Smith from the Saints along with some other smaller trades to help make this team better.
We're confident that season should help our team gel together, gain some experience, and make us prepared for what should be a very busy and active off-season, where we hope to make great strides to improve our team."
Anthony looks towards the left of him, where the head coach of the Lions, Rod Marinelli is sitting.
Anthony: "Also, I'd just like to reassure everyone that I have the utmost confidence in our head coach, Rod Marinelli. He brings to this team something we have lacked in the past. Determination, discipline, and most of all - a coach the players can all look up to. I'm certain he will do a great job, along with his assistant coaches. We know Mike Martz will do a great job offensively for us, while Rod implements some of his own schemes into the defense."
Adjusting his gaze once again, he looks to the media gathered, as he knows undoubtedly they have questions about some of the team and players.
Anthony: "Before I take any questions, I'll just briefly summarize our team and it's players. Offensively, I think we're in good shape. John Kitna is a proven veteran at QB, and we hope to for him to tutor Dan Orlovsky. We like all our running backs, with Kevin Jones speed and power, along with the blazing speed of the rookie Brian Calhoun. Our offensive line looks solid this year, and we hope for players to stand out in the receiving corps - we look to Vincent Jackson to really establish himself as our starter at the position. Defensively, Rod has assured me we'll build this team around the defensive line. With amazing defensive players like Will Smith and Shaun Rogers anchoring the line. Shaun Cody and Kalimba Edwards are young and should contribute also. Our secondary is mixed with experience and youth. We hope for both Daniel Bullocks and Roman Harper to prove themselves as one of the best young safety tandems in the NFL.
Thank you, and if you have any questions now I'll answer them."
Do you have any 1st season record expectations for your team?

For Madden people the best way to explain it is that he has a very low awareness.
Anthony: "I'm not sure it would be fair for me to give a direct record for what I think our team is capable of this year, but I will say this, we're a team looking to gain some experience, as we have a lot of rookies and inexperienced players - we know we're in a rebuilding year, but I know myself and the coaching staff still have hope to set a foundation for the team this year. We hope to get some good wins and help gain some experience for our team. I hope that answers your question a little bit."
Anthony: "That's a good question. We're hoping that this year will really allow our inexperienced players and rookies to develop enough to really help push us into the playoffs next year. Of course, we'll be drafting many new rookies this year, and they'll have a learning curve to deal with too - but we remain optimistic in the hoping that we'll be experienced at enough posisitions for our team to compete for the divison."
Anthony: "Well, our hope is for Vincent Jackson to be our primary receiver. We feel he has the size and athletism to be an amazing receiver. We're looking for Cedrick Wilson or Mike Furrey at the second receiver spot, and hope to get Mike Williams and Jeremy Bloom some work in the slot in certain situations. All in all, we hope to utlize every one of our receivers in some part of our game plan."
