Today i had the pleasure of talking with proud Detroit Lions owner Forenci after a slight adventure of locating him. Fortunately i located him and he has recovered from his sickness.
Tri: Forenci, let me tell you i am extremely pleased that you had time to take from playing Halo and getting the ladies to sit here and be interviewed.
Forenci: Hah, that's no problem. Glad I could be around to offer you some insight in the Detroit Lions organization.
Tri: With the first two games being played in the last few hours how do you feel about the Detroit Lions chances to compete this year?
Forenci: I think we stand a chance to compete in our division. We have some other competitive teams in our division - the Bears, Packers and Vikings have all worked hard to improve their teams as well, but I think we've done so too.
However, I feel we've prepared our self for the future, as opposed to trying to win immediately. Rome wasn't built in a day, and nor so will the Detroit Lions. We hope to compete very soon for the division though.
Tri: So you are focusing on a youthful approach? How many years before you can compete with those teams?
Forenci: Well, we aren't giving up on this year. Realistically it's easy to say we probably won't make the playoffs this year, but we never want our players to think that. In the Sim League you just never know how things will exactly play out.
That said, we have taken an interest in making this team younger. By gaining many draft picks we hope to add many new faces next year, and after what we hope to be a great draft class I think we stand an immediate chance at getting into the playoffs.
Tri: Jon Kitna is aging, do you feel he can lead this team effectively? And when he does retire, who will take over?
Forenci: Oh yeah, we feel like Jon can be the leader of this team for many years. Best of all, we know Jon will be around when we hope to draft a quarterback. He'll likely be our starter while we groom our young rookie. While Jon might be getting up there in years, he still has all the tools of a great quarterback and we know he'll do a great job for us.
Tri: Any positions that may have a hazard flag?
Forenci: Well, as GM you always want to create as much depth as you can at every position. We've tried our best to do so, despite sacrificing some great players like Roy Williams in order to build for the future.
We have some positions we think could use some more depth, such as cornerback, but we hope to address it during the off-season with the draft and free agency. Otherwise, I'm personally quite confident as our team as a whole.
Tri: You mention trading Roy Williams for a plethora of picks, what was your thinking behind this trade?
Forenci: Well, we loved Roy and thought he was an amazing player, but we felt like we had some good players at wide receiver, and we hoped by trading him we could improve some other areas of need as mentioned before.
Still, we would have loved to kept Roy, but when the deal was offered by the Chargers, it was simply too good to refuse. It may very well help this team get over the hump and be a contender in the near future.
Tri: Before we move on, is there anything else you would like to say about your team?
Forenci: I think that about covers it, thanks for the interview Tri, and best of luck to the Redskins this year.
Tri: Oh woah! Hold it, we still have to talk about Halo!
Tri: You are a big Halo fan, how did you enjoy playing through the campaign?
Forenci: Lol. It was amazing! It was somewhat short I suppose, but it was a blast. I don't know if I've ever felt so immeresed into a game before. Almost felt like I had a real connection to those characters in the game. I just hope they decide to make another one sometime in the future.
Tri: But the fight is over, what else could they possibly do? What would you like to see Bungie do?
Forenci: I'd like to see them continue on with the sci-fi shooter theme. It isn't really a popular genre for shooter games these days, but some of the best games are in the sci-fi genre. Halo, Gears of War..they are both great sci-fi shooting games. I really hope they do something like it again.
Good job Tri. I'm looking forward to Forenci, who always puts up a good conversation... maybe Hot Potato... Disturbed?

For Madden people the best way to explain it is that he has a very low awareness.

I have nothing but good memories of playing for the Bills. It's something I cherish. When I was playing for the Pats, I'd wear a Bills T-shirt under my uniform. Someone came up to me one day and said, 'Fred, no matter what you wear on the outside, you,ll always be a Buffalo Bill on the inside.'
