As much as I'd like to play MMO's I find I just can't get into them enough to be any good. I own Guild Wars but haven't played it in months and I don't feel like paying for an MMO I know I'll get tired of in a short time. If I tried another one, though, WoW would probably be my first choice.

Eh, WoW doesn't interest me, only because it doesn't cater to Player vs Player much. Plus it's all gear based. Which means if I want to be respectable at PvP I have to spend hours of my life raiding some instance, which is somewhat of a waste of time.
..and on that same note, the PvP is very, very, unrewarding and there isn't much of a point. Plus it's all instanced like what you might see playing an FPS, 40vs40 and such. Way too boring.
I look forward to Warhammer Online and Age of Conan. They both look pretty cool.
My apologies on insulting WoW, for those who do enjoy it - I just hate the fact how it is hailed as an epic and creative MMO, when in reality, it basically takes from every other MMO (as most do) but just makes it easier to play than most, thus more people play it.
Heh... the fact that it's not very focused on PvP is one of the reasons I'd play it. I don't care much for PvP, I think it's more rewarding working together with other players rather than fighting them. Something important to me in a MMO is a good crafting system, it's a good way to make money and save money by making your own stuff. You're right that WoW isn't very original, but hell it sure is popular.

Well, you could argue that, but from my experiences PvP forces you to be even more team oriented. At least, in most games. WoW never really gave that feeling to me. It felt like you could go off on your own and run around and attack others at your own leisure, but that's likely because it is instanced. There isn't 300 people attacking your faction/alliance at once, so it doesn't really force you to work together - it's just better if you do.
I agree with you on the crafting system though, a good one is always needed. Most of crafting systems in games tend to be repetitive and boring. WoW's crafting system gets that way after some time. As do most.
I'm really hoping Warhammer or Conan turns out well, but of course, I most look forward to the MMO Bioware is working on, as they are my favorite game company.

those scoundrels .....how dare they take other people ideas and make them easier to use ..... **cough*** ***Microsoft**** ***cough***
Forenci. Just curious, have you played WoW Since BC was released? there is a new dimention to PVP added
Yeah, I played it. Where basically you go through the Dark Portal and there are several PvP 'battle points' and such? If that's what you're referring, then I have. Still, it's very unrewarding. The new Arenas they have are interesting, but again, unrewarding. You can earn some gear, but compared to some of the PvE loot it's weak.
You should really try to get in the beta for Warhammer Online, Esi. I bet you would enjoy it a ton.
Did you ever play a game by the name of Dark Age of Camelot? Now that's what I mean by worthwhile and amazing PvP combat. DAoC corrupted me to only enjoy PvP and hate PvE, lol. Same people are making Warhammer Online, but with a better leveling system hopefully.
WoW is the first MMORPG I've played and I love the way it is set up. I'm more of a PvE guy. I just started a 2v2 arena team. I think the the Arena Seasonal Gear is the best gear you can get in the game. rivals if not better than endgame raid stuff. So I am just getting into PvP now really. Even the BG's were not my thing when i was lvling.
I didn't play UO a ton, but from what I did play it was pretty great. A lot of UO players moved on to play Dark Age of Camelot, which if you ever had a chance to get to the PvP portion of it, made WoW's PvP look like a complete waste of time and space. I also blame it for making me hate PvE because it was so incredibly painful to level.
Sigh. I see what you're saying though, Esi. I think it's a good game, best MMO around right now, but again - that's only because it makes it easy to play, level, and do some basic PvP.
I suppose my real rant lies with it's overall simplicity and the fact WoW basically butchers the fundamentals of the MMO genre to cater to more casual fans, in order to make more money. I'm not saying you in particular, or everyone that plays it, but a majority of it's players tend to be such. Which I find extremely annoying. If I get a chance tommorrow, I'll better explain my reasons for disliking the game so I don't come off as being illogical, or extremely bias - which I am not, I respect Blizzard a ton.
The best game ever for PvP was Ultima online, until they started catering to the whiners...
I played that back way before trammel was introduced. You are correct because back in the day Ultima was a lovely stompin ground to get your arse kicked if you werent ready lol.
So did I... Wasn't in to it as much, or perhaps as often, than Cash and LOBO... But did love the game for the short time I played.
