I took some time off from my usual rendezvous in our very own South Beach, surrounded by beautiful Latina ladies, to spend a few minutes with you all regarding the state of the team. Alot of people have been concerned with the direction of this great organization and the lack of leadership on and off the field after legendary Dan Marino retired.
We've been through some tough times trying to piece together the right team and more importantly the right front office ... Well today I'm proud to announce that we've finally put together a Front Office that will lead this team back to the promised land. It is with great pleasure that I introduce to you our new GM and Head Coach of the Miami Dolphins, Ricardo Tavares ...
The floor is yours ...
<newly appointed GM and HC,Ricardo Tavares, walks on stage wearing linen sports, a purple label shirt, sunglasses, flip flops and a sombrero, drinking a vodka concoction made at Wet Willie's>
Salutations ...
Well this season marks a new era in Miami Dolphin history. Gone is the countless HC's that have come and gone through this organization in the last 7 or 8 years. In is a new HC, a defensive guru is you may, who will keep this team balanced on the offensive side of the ball and won't shy away from airing it out. Gone is the old GM's who failed miserably at bringing in new talent and make good draft choices for the future of the team. In is a completely revamped front office with more knowledge and depth about the game than this organization has ever seen ...
With that being said, it's obviously time to talk about our team. At 1st glance it is painfully obvious at the glaring holes this team has. From our QB's debates, to a thin WR corps and a less than stellar offensive line it's hard to find a real bright spot for this team ... This 1st year is going to be a tough year to start off and will be a rebuilding year for this organization.
With that being said I decided to go out and make this team younger, especially on the defensive side of the ball .... Our LB corps and DB are completely revamped with great youngster who will learn alot for our veteran leaders like Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor. At the same time they will add an infusion of energy to a defense that fades late in the season .... They will continue to be the backbone of this team while we rebuild the offensive side of the ball ...
As our new GM I've also helped clear 11 million in cap space with another 14 coming off the books next year ... helping to position this team to make some great off-season acquisitions via the FA market coupled with beter draft picks than ever before ....
I see this team back in the hunt for the division title as early as next year and in serious contention for a SB title in another 2-3 years
Any Questions?

You have a plethora of taleted LBs, especially young inexperienced LBs. What kind of defense do you see the team running this year and will the progression of the young LBs have any effect on what defense you run in the near future?

Thank you for your question Nish ...
We plan on letting our trio of young inexperienced LB's learn from the likes of Zach Thomas, Jason Taylor etc.
We will then evaluate how they're playing and obviously look to open up a 3-4 scheme allowing Jason Taylor to move back to DE ..

To go out and play hard every week. I'm not looking for a championship from my team obviously but that doesn't mean I don't expect them to play well. I expect them to go out there and play hard week in and week out. If we steal a few games, great, but as long as I feel that our young players are progressing, then I'll be happy

How do you see your QB situation for this year and the next years?
And can you give us your opinion on your WR and CB groups, are they good enough to make other teams fear them?

I have nothing but good memories of playing for the Bills. It's something I cherish. When I was playing for the Pats, I'd wear a Bills T-shirt under my uniform. Someone came up to me one day and said, 'Fred, no matter what you wear on the outside, you,ll always be a Buffalo Bill on the inside.'
Do you have any plans to use a multiple defensive front and use Jason Taylor as a LB and DE in certain situations, or do you for see the team establishing the 3-4 for the future?
Also, how confident are you in your both experienced and inexperienced secondary?
