To create a better world

I think after 11th of September 2001 the western world opened the eyes and saw that not every nation of planet earth is on the bright side life. Terror is very often motivated by frustration, that no excuse of course.
After 11th September i heard Mr.Bush say something special. If I am not mistaken he said: "If we want a safer world, be need to create a better world".
So my question, what do you think can be done to make the world "better". Any suggestions? Or how do you see the actual situation of the world right now?

I think the world would be a better place if all the countries were conquered by the US and put under one Democratic Government with a Capitalist system.

Nothing is misspelled Billster... So... <shrugs> And here it's not will one of the mods... I'm the ONLY mod. Cash is the only one that has any power in here in that regaurd.

As far as the question... It would have to come from something like the UN. Unfortunetly it isn't greater than it's sum of parts. It's actually less and more pitiful than any voting member.

But to actually do it... Those things that the UN stands for, read the charter, would have to be implemented and have *meaningful* consequences for not doing, those basic fundamental rights for it's people. Here, let me show the first couple lines of the charter:
WE THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED NATIONS DETERMINED
to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, and
to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small, and

to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law can be maintained, and

to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom,

AND FOR THESE ENDS
to practice tolerance and live together in peace with one another as good neighbours, and

to unite our strength to maintain international peace and security, and

to ensure, by the acceptance of principles and the institution of methods, that armed force shall not be used, save in the common interest, and

to employ international machinery for the promotion of the economic and social advancement of all peoples,
In this... The UN does a piss poor job, and I lay the blame for that on the vetoing parties within it equally.

Yeah, the UN looks very unlucky sometimes. They also have to think about what can be done against poverty and discrimination. The world is at a very critical point in my eyes. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. And that situation creates frustration among the poor countries. The folks there feels betrayed and forgotten.
I will write more in the next couple of days about some things i think can be done to make the world "better"...

They feel forgotten? I could swear most of their leaders swearing up and down themselves that they just want to be left alone. Which in my mind is the worst thing any decent human being can do given their rights to women and what not.

I had this written elsewhere, but i think it belongs to here more:

The 'fair price' for foodstuff idea.

Speaking of that the foodstuff most poor nations are exporting are getting cheaper and cheaper during the last decades and as a result of it the poor countries get lesser revenues of their export articels, which are mostly foodstuff.
For example in Germany two decades ago 2 pounds coffee out if Africa or South America costed 10 dollars or even more, but nowadays it is available for under 6 dollars. Almost every nature product Germany imports had the same drops in price. For the Germans it is nice, but for the exporting countries!!
Maybe worldwide cultivation restrictions could help. The poorest countries could get allowed to cultivate certain foodstuff only, so that the revenue of their exports would be really high compared to former periods.
What do you think?
Is that feaseable?

I think that it could be a solution, but would never work. People are too damn greedy and care too little about others. That's why companies like Wal*Mart are taking over. No one cares that they are destroying local economies, employing slave labor, practicing unfair employment strategies... so long as they can buy a $3.99 toaster oven.

The answer is usually, “but I can’t afford to buy local.” But what they don’t realize is the reason the locals have to raise their prices is because of the tactics the Walmarts of the world employ.

You should look into how Canada has it's government set up for businesses and what not. It's something that I personally think is a pretty good idea.

Doubt many Americans like it however.

There is no Wal-Mart in my home town and a box of Cereal at the Grocery Store cost $6, a Loaf of Bread $2-$3.... Its not because of Wal-Mart that local stores have to charge more our economy does not work that way.

Did you not learn the Laws of Supply and Demand in school? The local stores charge more because people are willing to pay more instead of driving to a place that is cheaper. If you have more options to choose from prices go down because of competition. If you only have one place to get what you need prices go up.

It may be fair to say Wal-Mart puts small businesses out of business because people would rather shop for all the stuff they need at one store where its cheaper.
