Exactly...if anyone wants it I have a hilarious clip about diving in soccer that my dad sent me if anyone wants it for a good chuckle.

Oh yeah...I hate diving. Its what put me off soccer for a long time. It still does. The best way to eliminate it? Video ref. Any overexaggeration = Instant red. After two weeks, it would be a thing of the past.
Yup, most teams have players that dive. Some examples are...Robben, Deco, Messi, and the classic, Rivaldo.
But the problem with the Portugal and France game was that the previous night it had been shown what a real game of soccer is. You could almost count the fouls on one hand. And it was played with such a great spirit. None of this see if I can get him carded crap.
So, instead of following suit. The Portuguese complained at almost, if not every decision the ref made that went against them. That is too far. They dived on numerous occassions, and the problem was, their team doesnt have one or two renouned divers, the team all did it.
Oh dear lord. Please tell me you didnt just say Ronaldo is better than Rooney? I was beginning to think "Hey hold on, may be he does know a thing or two about soccer." But that has abruptly changed my mind.
Since you brought it up. Im just gonna say my thoughts on that. Whilst obviously price doesnt mean everything...Why is it that the same club paid 12.24 million for Ronaldo's services but 25 mil minimum to 29 mil maximum for Wayne Rooney's services...? So, more than double...
Nope, that doesnt mean everything. But I think a tell tale sign could be which of the two leaves the club..Rooney or Ronaldo, over this feud...I know who my money is on.
If you were to ask people who know something about soccer (by the sound of it you actually do, and I am assuming your statement was purely to wind me up) who their top 5 players in the world are..Im pretty sure Rooney would get a mention. In fact, Ill say mine to see if we just disagree about what makes a good player...
Ronaldhino, Henry (though he has had a bad tournament), Kaka, Rooney, Gerrard.
Ill tell you what makes Rooney a better player. Strength. His shot. His vision. His not as flamboyant, yet just as effective dribbling. He is decent with his head.
Ronaldo dribbles excessively, yet all too often doesnt deliver the final ball. He has a very good header. His shot is ok, and he is flimsy as something that's really flimsy.
Im interested actually, what games do you get through your satellite dish? Is it the premiership? If not, I dont even know why I am having this discussion. I see the two play week in week out, and I know the better player. So do the fans. As I live in Manchester, I hear complaints of Ronaldo's poor final ball, and excessiveness, and I never hear a word of complaint about Rooney..
If there is something Im missing, tell me. But do you get full coverage of the English Premiership?

I agree but Deco hasn't done that much diving in this tournament from what I've seen.

I hated the way we looked for the equalizer ourselves, but if you watched the game I don't think it was officiated properly. We got called for every foul and then our rep of diving kept us from getting any calls. Also I think the penalty was bull****. Was their contact? Minimal... Did he Dive? Hell YES

I might of gone too far to say that, but I was pissed. At the moment, its not true.

Here is where we disagree ... For started how much they pay for their services means absolutely nothing. Ben Wallace got a contract from the Bulls that no other team, except the Mavs, would give him. Heck the Mavs gave Dampier a retarded contract to.... SIT on the BENCH. I'm only disagreeing on your logic not on who's better.

I think Ronoldo though has strength as well. He's bulked up to withstand more shots. I also think that Ronoldo has just as good of a vision as Rooney. I've seen him make some spectacular passes and other to players still trailing. So he has the vision and obviously better dribbling.
The reason that Rooney is better ATM (at the moment) is because of Ronoldo's immaturity at times. He does dribble excessively, when he can use one of his many moves and make the extra pass or take a shot. He tries to be "THE MAN" too much and doesn't full understand the concept of a team sport. I firmly believe thou that once (actually if he does) mature and becomes more of a team player that he will be a better player than most give him credit for and possibly better than Rooney, but those are just my views.

YES I DO and i watch alot of the MU games. I just like to piss you off =).
Just add fuel to the fire. But yoru right tho about Ronoldo (minus him not having vision) for now.

Unless I have missed something, the way in soccer a player is valued is exactly that, by being valued. Sometimes players go cheap, yeah, sometimes more expensive than they should. I just thought it was a tell tale sign that Rooney was better not only the difference, but the fact it was the same club, and the two players were bought at a very similar age.
Well if he has the vision then he certainely doesnt use it. He can marvel at times and hugely frustrate at others. I have seen him on many occassions with his head down just trying to take the guy on. And I would agree with you that is immaturity.
I think he has the potential to be a great player as he has a lot of passion, the necessary skills, he just needs the maturity to look for the final ball rather than take the guy on (much like Robben.)
So I agree with most of your post, but, Ronaldo will never be a better player than Rooney in my eyes. Rooney still has dribbling ability, just see the Ecaudor game, he has a lot of power, and a lethal shot..And if you want proof of that..

Im sure you probably saw the goal at the time if you watch the premiership, but I just thought Id throw it out there.

I can't believe Zidane did that...it just kind of left me stunned that he would do something like that in such an important game (or at all for that matter)...
Putting on Iaquinta for Perotta I believe was a mistake that nearly cost Italy. Playing outside on the right he kept drifting in and would complain whenever the ball was hit wide and he wasn't in position to get it. Throughout the second half and even with 10 men the French were in alot more control.
--------------- Madden 2007 Next Gen football ---------
Congratulations to Italy though (I didn't care who won that much...but preferred the Italians over the French)

The Italians were doing very well in the first half. But in the second, the French just seemed to want it more. I dont care much for De Rossi, especially after the Elbow incident. Totti didnt play well enough, and I was surprised to see Iaquinta over Gilardino...And surprised to see Camoranesi go off, he was playing fairly well.
I think the subs probably should have cost Italy, but the French were not great either, with the exception really of Makalele (who is thought was superb)..
The Italians broke their Penalty curse, and the French were unlucky. But you could say justice was served after that stupid *** headbutt..

What are you talking about Zidane is the man ... lol.
He's the only player on the French team I can stomach and can't remember seeing diving.
If your mad about the headbutt.... which was hilarious, All I can say is that the Italian player deserved it. I mean he was walking away quickly from him. For him to turn around and snap like that then some ****ed up **** must of been said.
We had a ball the other day trying to figure out what he said to Zidane .....
--------------- Madden 2007 Next Gen football ---------
From what I was reading people are saying that he called Zidane a dirty terrorist or something to that effect. (Zidane's father is Algerian or something).
Again like I said above I think the Italian player derserved it to some extent. I'm curious to hear what Zidane will say happened that day.

Yeah, something must've been said...there's no way a player of Zidane's caliber would do that because the guy grab his jersey. I wonder if they can find some lip readers to decipher the tape. Lol.

I don't care. That's just retarded on Zidane's part. His LAST GAME EVER...the WORLD CUP...1-1 in OVERTIME...the game is on his shoulders. If something was said to him, he should have said something back...but to retaliate violently like he did, you gotta know that you're gone if you do that.
As far as I'm concerned he let his team down big time...who knows, maybe they would have won if he was there to kick one of the penalty kicks? And add to that the fact that it was his last game...that he will never have another chance to redeem himself...that will be the lasting image of him...just stupid.
