Well North Korea is a Communist Government and China is a Communist Government. I am sure that China is actively supplying them with Arms and helping them to develop Nukes and considers them an Ally. Thus if we entered into a conflict with NK then I would bet China backs them.
Just like if someone entered into a war with the Brits we would be there to support them.
Just like if someone attacked Cash, you and I would be there to back him.

Actually, although China is an ally of North, the US is in negotiations with China to get N. Korea back to six party talks.

Back to the "international law" argument....
It's not my opinion that the UN Charter acts as the law to which nations must abide... part of joining the UN means that you must live by this. As far as the ruling body that would make the decisions on this, we would be talking about the International Court of Justice ( http://www.icj-cij.org/icjwww/icjhome.htm) Here is the short version of the functions of the court: http://www.icj-cij.org/icjwww/igener...on/inotice.pdf
Now, the problem with all of this is that international law is set up in a manner that the nations themselves must hold themselves to it. No nation wants to try and say that the US went against international law because no one could enforce it. Iraq can't take the matter to the court, because Iraq is now under US control. The US has created this problem along with others, where it has basically destroyed the meaning of International Law by simply disregarding it because it has the power to do so. Because we can, doesn’t make it right.
Simply put… it is against the UN Charter and therefore against International Law to perform an act of aggression against another country without approval of the UN Security Counsel.
This is not an opinion. This is a fact.
If the UN and the ICJ try to act accordingly against the US for this violation, there would be no way to punish the US because no nations (besides those we are now fighting physically and politically) would be willing to risk opposing the US. The UN and the ICJ therefore have no choice to but to stand aside and allow the lesser of two evils to prevail or loose any standing that they now hold.
It would be as if the Defense Secretary decided to invade a country and told the President, Congress and the Senate, “what are you going to do about it… I control the military.” As we all know too well… as the US is the has the most powerful military in the world, it acts as the military of the UN, therefore you could look at the President’s role in the UN much the same way as the Secretary of Defense in the US.
The UN is a democratic form of government and the US is acting against that democracy.
Is that an opinion as well?

You say it acted against it... I say it acted for it. What do you want me to say? My opinion is fact? Not going to happen, I'm not that full of myself. I might be a bit on the arrogant side, but I'm not quit that bad to say I'm the law.
