Cowboys Pre-season Wk 2
Cowboys 23 * Saints 17
Ok....
Newman is going to be fine, he took a funny landing on that tackle and sort of got the wind knocked out of him. He has a little soreness in his chest but X-rays were negative. We expect him back in practice tomorrow.
Same thing with Thompson. He came out and said his quad was a little tight and sore so we felt it best to keep him out. He will be in practice tomorrow.
LeFors got his bell rung and had to come out and smell some salts for a while then got back in there.
On to the game....
I am pretty disappointed in our performance in this one. Our number ones didn't move the ball as well as I would have liked against their number twos in the first half. The O Line didn't get the push I expect, the running game wasn't very effective, we allowed way too many sacks, we just really played sloppy all the way around.
Our number ones on defense allowed their number twos to move the ball more than I would have liked. We didn't make any plays when given the chance dropping about 4 INTs.
We held Romo out of this one because we wanted to see the other two guys. Maybe not having that leadership out there is what resulted in the poor blocking, but these guys need to do their job no matter who is back there.
The stats make LeFors and Nall look pretty good but I didn't like what I saw out there. LeFors needs to be able to put a lot more heat on his balls and quit lobbing them up for someone to go get. I told him... you throw like that against a teams number ones and you will break the interception record. Both the guys held on to the ball too long taking sacks instead of getting rid of the ball.
Well this is what the preseason is for, just this stuff right here. Let you figure out what problems you have and figure out how to get them fixed before the games count.
Any Questions.
