Ok, Jeb Heckuba got a little thing in the game and came out. It doesn't look too serious and he should be OK. We will see how he looks practicing this week and make a determination on his status on game day, right now we are calling him day to day.
I think our first Pre-season game went much better than I could have hoped. No serious injuries, the defense looked pretty good and didn't allow any big plays. The Offense played fairly well together and had good long drives.
Still there are things we need to work on before the season starts. On special teams the kick coverage left a lot to be desired. We failed to finish off a few drives and had to settle for field goals. We had some untimely penalties.
Neither one of the young free safeties did anything to stand out and show me they want the job. Don't take that wrong... they both played well... Just neither one did anything to out shine the other and make my decision easier yet.
We got things to fix over the next 3 weeks if we want to get to where we want to be.
Any Questions?

For every five times Marion Barber rushed the ball, Julius Jones only rushed three times. Is that the type of ratio you are expecting to use in the regular season, a balanced attack, or will we see more of a single back out there in the regular season?
At this point we are not sure, both of these guys are very capable of starting and being the primary guy, but each brings a little something different to the table. We are using these preseason games to evaluate both of them and determine if we are going to go with one over the other or if we are going to use one of them as a 3rd down back or if we are going to try to split the time between them.

How if at all do you feel the early exit of Hasselbeck effected you defense? They seemed to contain his running pretty well. Was this something you glamplaned for or more of just heads up play by the defense?
Hasslebeck is a good quarterback and its hard to say how different things might have gone if he would not have gone out of the game. Still I felt we were doing a decent job even while he was in the game.
As for our game plan, we just went in with a base line game plan to get an idea of things and see if we need to adjust one way or the other.
