Chiefs Pre-Season Game 1 Presser
Coach Herm Edwards walks up behind the podium
Well... we didn't do a lot of things right today. We didn't play very many of our starters, and almost none of our superstars. As a result, we did very little in the first half against the Texans #1 offense and defense. In the second half we evened out, but still lost. That's ok. We obviously weren't playing our most competitive team, we were playing the guys we want to see.
On offense, we had a good look at Brodie Croyle. He was decent, but he wanted to force the ball a lot and faced a lot of pressure from the Texans front 7. He will continue to take snaps throughout the pre-season. Huard shows us that he is more than a serviceable backup, and that adds a certain comfort to the offense. Kennison was used more than we hoped he would be, but obviously there wasn't the same connection there with the other receivers we were trying to look at.
Defensively, rookie Bernard Pollard led the team in tackles. Once again, very few starters played, so I am not as upset with our failure to stop the run as I would be.
I really don't have much else to say. We really didn't look like much today. That will get better as the pre-season goes on. I think you'll see a better game out of our team next week against the Giants.
Any questions?
