Chargers Preseason week 4

Well...

The offense wasn't everything I expected it to be... And more than I thought was going to happen. No injuries to report, Rivers just had a stinger those few plays he was out. We only had one penalty for five yards. It's good to see the players having their heads in the game.

I was surprised to be playing against Gore the whole game... More surprised that he didn't get over 100 yards. Very happy with both our first and second defense. On to the meat and potatoes...

Offense:

We completed just over 50 percent of our passes. Two passing TD's, and Rivers ran in one. Our line gave up one sack, and the QB didn't get the ball off early enough on the other. Whitehurst is coming along, but just isn't there yet.

I'm very happy with Humes 15 carries for a 5.9 average. He has won the second string spot and we may even have him play third down back. Something we haven't done in previous years as we just let LT take care of it all. We found out all we wanted to know in the running game from preseason, and happy about it going into the regular season.

Defense:

Well... Again we kept Gore to 88 yards on 22 carries.

Four sacks, a forced fumble and recovery... Four tackles for a loss. I think we need to play the ball more than the receiver in the secondary, but all in all I think we are ready for the season to begin. We'll take our bruises early and finish well late on defense I believe.

Special Teams:

Scifres had a 45 yard average with a TB... Not sure we can hope for much more than that. Sproles had a bit of a off day returning the ball, with only a 21 yard average.. But we expect that to change when rested the whole game and being the returner full time.

Keading made both his field goals....
