Ive seen in at least one other league...where they have a new guy come into the league as an assistant GM to a veteran GM...so that he can learn the rules and get a feel for the league before he takes over a team of his own.
Im not sure if this would work in this league or not...im just throwing it out there for discussion and to see what Cash thinks of the Idea...
Sounds interesting. I am not sure how Cash would incorporate such an idea into the league, but it is interesting nonetheless. I believe though, that the current system works. Obviously, as a new owner I did not know much except what was posted in certain topics. That still doesn't give you the 'hands-on' needed to understand things. Most owners are friendly enough to answer any questions you may have, at least in my experience.

I remember when there was a new owner and Cash said that if anyone wanted him, he could be an assistant GM or something like that, but no one was really open to it... I think its a good idea if we have owners willing to do it...
how does the assistand GM or veteran GM position work in your other league.
Problem is no one is going to let them make any decisions concerning their team, for that they might as well receive a quick lecture from someone on how to run a team rather than do that. Curious as to how it worked in your other league.

Yeah, I'm not so sure I'd be willing to have an assistant GM who is some new guy with no experience in the league and no knowledge of my team. It works out good for the new guy, but the owner kinda gets screwed. I take pride in my team...some how, I don't think it would be as satisfying to win with the help of someone else. Likewise, I don't want to lose because of the decisions of my "assistant GM".
One thing I would agree to is having a new or potential owner "shadow" me...as in watch what I do as an owner, like signings and releases, sliders, depth charts, news, press conferences, games...and learn from that. They could do this for 1-3 sim weeks before they are ready to take over their own team. But I wouldn't want to put important decisions in the hands of someone who doesn't know what they are doing just yet...
