Buffalo Bills start of the regular season PC!

Team speaker Bob Sponge enters the press conference room and puts a glass of water to the podium and leaves the room again quickly.
A few minutes later Mr.Billster finds his way to the room where a couple of reporters are already waiting for the PC to begin.

Mr.Billster: “Hi, welcome to everybody. It is nice that we have the opportunity to talk about the Bills franchise situation one week before the start of the regular season”.

He takes a sip of the water and looks around.

Mr.Billster:” Well, we had a lot of changes this off-season but we felt that these changes were really needed to be a competitive team. We built a team that won’t need much changes or fixes for the upcoming two years. We are in trade talks to add one last young player for the Secondary but other than that we are done trading and changing for the year. And very probably even for next year. I can tell you already now that we won’t be a big factor the next off-season like we were in this off-season period, maybe we will be even a complete non-factor in FA and trades. Our strategy will be to keep the team together for the next years and watch the entire team getting better in a continuous process. This is how we see the things and how we wanted to handle the player situation but you never can know if we don’t have to change our plans due to injuries, contract problems or other unexpected things”.

He looks to the window and sees bird flying around.

Mr.Billster: “Well, these contracts really will be a concern for next year. We calculated that we will be around 4 millions over the salary cap for next year with our 21 million dollar cap hits. And it is very likely that we will release 2 or 3 backup players or players absolutely not performing like we wanted after the 2006 campaign to save us money. That is what I can say about some of the things to come”.

He looks at his watch.
Mr.Billster:” Now let us talk about this season. Our week 1 opponents are the New England Patriots. They are one of the best teams in professional football. Without the slightest doubt we are the underdogs in this match-up. We will try our best and play as good as we can and hope that our efforts will be rewarded in some ways. Losing is always possible in this game, especially against good teams like the Patriots. But it is important to see that we played good and wanted the win. If we then really get out with the win is a different story. I can say that the team really worked very hard over the last three, four months in training camps and all sort of workouts. I liked most of the things I saw of my team and I hope really that we can translate most of the fine, focused and fertile training on the field over the long season marathon. If we finish this year even with 8-8 I would be very happy. But if we end up with 7-9 I won’t start crying and if we finish 9-7 I won’t start to see us in the SB the following year. Like I said before we want to get better continuously year for year and it will be very interesting to see where our journey will take us in these years. Thank you for the moment”.

He takes a sip of the water and looks around...

What it means to be a Bill...said by Fred Smerlas...
I have nothing but good memories of playing for the Bills. It's something I cherish. When I was playing for the Pats, I'd wear a Bills T-shirt under my uniform. Someone came up to me one day and said, 'Fred, no matter what you wear on the outside, you,ll always be a Buffalo Bill on the inside.'
