Most weeks when Im in the bookies I put a few bets on (most often accumulators) for the Soccer results for that weekend. Its been quite a fruitful income for me over the past couple of years.

As it was international weekend (no games) I thought Id try my hand at the NFL, properly, for the first time.

I have made occassional bets on the NFL, of course. And numerous non money bets on the SB (lost this year - had to shave my head with my mates initials engraved on the sides and top of my head). But I have decided Im gonna do an accumulator every week now on the NFL.

Just thought Id use this thread to say who Ive got or more importantly, am planning to put money on, and maybe you guys can chime in with your two cents?

Anyway, this week, I found it pretty tough, what with it being Week 1, so to make the bet worthwhile without being costly I stacked it with a few teams.

Here are the teams I have winning:

Chargers (Over Bears)
Pats (Over Jets)
Eagles (Over Packers)
Seahawks (Over Bucs)
Cowboys (Over Giants)

In future, I probably wont do 5 games, but instead will put more money on less, but Ill just see how it goes as its a long season after all.

I actually have this coupled with England and Scotland both winning in Internationals, buts thats really just to bump the odds (as they are pretty certain both to win).

For some reason Pittsburgh werent available to bet on, but I would have if I could have, as I think that is a pretty certain victory.

I put 5 quid on this (about 10 dollars to you guys) which would give me a 70 quid return (roughly 130-140 dollars).

My only query is over having it on so many games, what do you guys think?

Like I say, Ill be doing this on a weekly basis and may change my tactics over that time.

I feel you picked the right teams to win just like 75% of us probably would have picked to win realistically.

I like the Eagles going into Lambeau, the Pack is like 10-15 in their last 25 at home, madness.

Yeah I think the Eagles were one of the easier decisions this week (of course that could come back to bite me in the *** so...**Touch wood**).

The one I think could mess it up though is the Seahawks game, I have no idea how either of the teams are gonna come out, cos a TB with Jeff and Cadillac firing on all cylinders has a chance to beat them.

Of course Chicago SD is tough, but SD are probably more well rounded, and are at home..

hmmm Seahawks game.....Shaun Alexander and Caddy are both coming off of foot injuries both of which are very painful from what I hear so I think they probly haven't recovered all of the way, with Deion Branch knowing the offense fully I would pick the Hawks.

All I can say is I hope you lose (go Pack go!). It's time for the Packers to regain homefield dominance.

Well just to update this, the four internationals I put money on came off, so now the bet is still open for tonight. I think I have made the right calls on the games, but ultimately, anything can happen, week 1 especially. Here's to hoping.

The Pats, and Chargers game are both being broadcast I think, so that makes things better too, no longer a neutral

Mhmm, consider yourself bitten. Favre has some magic left in the tank, and Crosby has one hell of a leg. (Not to mention the defense/special teams)

Oh, and for those of you from the last Sim League...as we see in this game, it was accurate.

Funny thing ST.. only one person (from maddenboard) picked the packers in the Pickem league? Who was that? Man if you are gunna claim the call at least back it up with the proof of the pick... guess you didn't have as much conviction in it as I did huh?

Lol, yes I suppose you're right. I actually picked the Eagles in this "pick the winners" league to maintain continuity between this league and another I'm in (as the other is a "hand a sheet of paper" thing, this one provides an easier way to record who I picked). Guess I was just tired of people ragging on me about picking the Packers. I was 90% sure they'd win, not sure why I didn't pick them. Trust me, I have absolutely no idea why I picked the Eagles.

How about this, I'll back my word from now on and pick the Packers everytime I think they can win...Fyi, it'll be every week except perhaps the one they play the Chargers.
