The Bears have a surpurb group of bookends. Any one of the four are capable of starting and putting up decent stats. The early word out of training camp is that the starters will be veteran Adewale Ogunleye (91 OVR) & Alex Brown (89 OVR). Bears' GM Duke Raoul said that back-ups Calvin Pace (85 OVR) and rookie Mark Anderson (82 OVR) will also see lots of playing time this season.
Defensive Tackles
Harris & Johnson
When it comes to DTs, the Bears have one of the league's best in Tommie Harris (94 OVR). Harris has an amazing combination of speed (77), strength (88) & acceleration (91) which make him one of the NFL's most feared defensive players. Playing beside Harris in most formations will be league bad boy Tank Johnson (86 OVR). Dusty Dvoracek (73 OVR) should also see limited action in relief of the team's starting duo.
Linebackers
Urlacher, Briggs & Hillenmeyer
Chicago has an amazing linebacking corps that centers around one of the best players in the game, Brian Urlacher (99 OVR). Urlacher, a fan favorite and defensive playmaker, is the heart and soul of his team's defense and the Bears will look for great things from him if they hope to make a playoff run this season. Lance Briggs (93 OVR) is another defensive playmaker who should put up decent stats this season. Rounding out the trio of LBs is Hunter Hillenmeyer (83 OVR) at LOLB. Rookie Jamar Williams (72 OVR) will back-up Urlacher and see action in Quarter & 3-4 formations.
Chicago has a lot of skill at the corner position. Nathan Vasher (89 OVR) is an exciting defensive playmaker and shutdown corner. His starting partner will likely be Ricky Manning (86 OVR) because Bears' management is still trying to find a new home for Charles Tillman (87 OVR & 25 years old). Speedsters Buchanon (97 SPD, 96 ACC, 95 AGI & 80 OVR) & Hester (97 SPD, 99 ACC, 96 AGI & 76 OVR) will share the #3 & #4 duties.
Safties
Brown & Manning
Veteran Mike Brown (89 OVR) will be the Bears starting Strong Safety and 24 year old prospect Danieal Manning (81 OVR) will start at Free Safety. Both players are expected to be heavily involved in maintaining tight coverage, stopping the run and putting pressure on the opposing QB.
