I think he might just be up there with the likes of Nolan Ryan. I mean what he's doing at his age is incredible. He had something ridiculous with an under1.00 ERA on the road or some thing. His ERa for the last two seasons is ridiculous. If his team could of put up more points then Roger would should of been a 20+ game winner. I don' think there is anyone in the game right now close to his caliber and from before I think only Nolan outranks him.

I'm glad no one brought up people like Warren Spawn or Cy Young because you can't say a guy that pitched every other day is better because of course they are gonna have hundreds of wins and strikeouts.

Hate to blow a hole in your boat, but Warren SPAHN did not pitch anything close to 'every other day'. Only twice did he start more than 36 games in a year, and never appeared in more than 41 games in any year. Here are his career stats: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/alltim...d=13045&type=1
Just this past year, there were 7 players with 35 starts, and 38 pitchers with 30 or more starts.
Your comment that Spawn pitched everyother day, doesn't even come close to holding any water.
As for Ryan being the best ever? I am not sure he would even crack my top 10.

no pitcher really STARTED every other day. They may have pitched here and there in back to back games, but never started. Cy Young led the league in Saves in 1896 with THREE.
Although way back when, they did pitch complete games on the regular. We'll never see that again.
That's why todays pitchers(Clemens & Randy Johnson) are so impressive because they pitch less innings then those pitchers yet the K's are more.
Roger Clemens is 9th in wins. He's 170 back from the leader(Cy Young) They both have played 22 seasons, but Cy Young pitch more in relief as well.
If you look at the all time stats, the games are up for the old timer pitchers then the pitchers today.
This is why you can not say who is the BEST of all time, cause stats and era's are totally different. Clemens maybe the best of the past 20 years. Yeah you can say that, but not all time.

VERY valid points, agreed, there are a few great possible canidates for the best of all time, like i said b4 it is hard to say for sure, but clemens is up there for sure, no doubt about that

In talking about the greatest pitchers of all time, you have to see what standards you are going to set.
Sandy Koufax, Christy Matthewson, Walter Johnson, Tom Seaver, Greg Maddux, Cy Young, Warren Spahn, Steve Carlton, Roger Clemons, Bob Gibson, Eddie Plank....
I think Clemens is great. He has always had the heat and been a great pitcher for a long time. Greg Maddux is a great pitcher as well, and has never been a fastball overpowering kind of pitcher. They are both great, and both are totally different. They will both make the hall of fame and desevedly so. They are probably within the past 25 years probably top three along with Nolan Ryan. Randy Johnson has been good, but at times very eratic and inconsistent. I like him but wouldnt put him close to those top three guys though
