dang the Braves suck....Leo Mazzone won't be back....we're gonna lose all our games....lol, who do I sound like? Just thought I might do this before ahnd...hahahahaha
Damn Swoosh, I thought you were serious when I saw the title...you got my hopes up! LOL, the Mets WILL stop the Braves streak next year. Haha, yeah right, I've been saying that practically since I could speak. Oh well, there's always hope for the Wild Card...
To be honest, I saw the title and didn't even look at the author and just thought "What's rams fan rambling about now?"

I actually believe, even with the loss of Leo, that Atlanta will be in the NLCS next year. We have a great foundation of young players coming back, along with the veteran leadership of guys like Smoltzy, Chipper, Andruw, Huddy.. If we can get Furcal back, their is a chance we could push for a WS bid.

I don't feel the same. I think it was actually Leo that was holding that team together...well, that made them good(Tommy and Greg left so it wasn't actually "together") Their pitching kept them in games. Maybe the rookies will be better next year, cause is what they definately need. Their offense has struggled in teh last 14 years. Even though Andruw had 50+ HR and the decline of Chipper, the rookies really need to step up.
I'd say watch out in the AL East next year, cause the O's have good pitching and with a Coach like Leo there...whoa!!!
I don't know if you will see the loss of Mazzone this coming up season. I think the impact will be seen over a few seasons as the new pitching coach tries to set things to his style.
The Braves look good on paper offensively for next season. C- Estrada/McCann, 1b Laroche, 2b Giles, 3b Chipper, SS Betemit (or Furcal if they resign him) RF Franceour, CF A. Jones, LF Not sure here.. they have a few options and they might bring in a FA.
Chipper really didn't "decline" last season. He wasn't healthy until around August. After the all-star break, Chipper hit .307 , 14 hr, 46 rbi in 202 at bats. In general for his career he has had in the mid 500's in AB. If he would have played the entire season he would have probably be 35 hr 110 rbi or so.
The one thing that really concerns me is the bullpen. Hopefully it is better next season. I don't know if they will resign Farnsworth or not as the closer. They need to. The bullpen was actually decent down the last month of the season but sucked in the playoffs. Devine will be a good one in the future. Its tough to go from pitching college ball to pitching in a pennant race and into the playoffs.
Also, I don't think you will see Bobby Cox there for too much longer. Just an opinion here on that. I know Terry Pendleton cancelled his interview with the Dodgers about thier vacant managers position. Also he has declined interviewing with 2 other teams. Pittsburgh was one of them but I can't remember the other. It has been said around here for the last few years that when Cox retires that Pendleton will take over as manager.
I agree about Cox. I think seeing Leo go will start the change of a good coaching staff in Atlanta. I believe Bobby will be around for 2-3 more years, then someone will step in. Whether it be Pendelton or not I dont know. LF should be Langerhans job, especially after how he played the last month of the season and into the playoffs. KJ should continue to platoon in their with Langerhans, but Ryan should get the majority of the games. I also think we should let Farnsworth and Furcal go. I believe Wilson will do a fine job their for the 1-2 years he will be needed..Enough time to get Yunel Escobar ready for the majors. Use the money that Furcal and Farnsworth made to get a lights out closer (Talks surround Billy Wagner and BJ Ryan). And add maybe a Ugeth Urbina type set up guy. Also, maybe a package of Johnny Estrada and Horacio Ramirez/or John Thomson could be shipped away for a good arm in that BP. McCann has shown he is capable of being the every day catcher and I wand to see what Pena can do up at the majors for the 1-2 years he has left with Atlanta. Ramirez or Thomson won't be needed. Kyle Dabvies, Chuck James, and Anthony Lerew are all expected to compete for that 5th spot. Look for something along the lines of that type of trade to happen to free up some money to get a reliable arm out in that pen.
well, leo prolly won't have BJ Ryan as a closer. He's looking elsewhere so he can get paid!

hope he goes to the Braves for Kolb!
