it was a heckofa performance, for sure. the reason he gets paid that much is because he is consistent.
ever since 96 he's hit above .285, hit over 35 homers (23 in 96 only), over 100 RBI (84 RBI 96). with those numbers you're in pretty good shape to get a hefty contract.

you mean this sissy play....LOL! Ok, I mighta given the wrong impression by starting this thread. I cant stand the guy, I cant stand the yanks and that was so sissafied of him to do that. Someone like him that makes that much and all these kids looking up to him as a mentor (God help them) should not be doing things like that. Once he got in those pin stripes, it all went down hill! But anyway, I just thought 3 HR's and 10 RBI was a great thing to do and finally because he has been so cold all year and suckin the big 'en...hahaha

Yeah he was called out. Its a totally illegal play. He should have just run right thru Arroyo. At least thats a legal play.
I personally like Alex. I think he is a damn fine baseball player. I find it funny that people are always bashing him because of the money he makes. I would be amazed to find anyone who would turn down $25 million a year or so to play a game.

I'm not criticizing him at all for making the money...I'm criticizing the Yanks for paying him that much. Hell, I'd take the league minimum to play and still be happy with it. But there's no way A-Rod is worth the 25 mil/year he makes...that's just ridiculous...

I didn't actually direct that at you Short, sorry if ya took it that way. That was more for the people who sit there and say that Alex sucks because he makes 25 million or they call him greedy for taking what the Rangers offered him.
The biggest problem with him is that his contract usually prevents teams from being able to do much with the roster because he takes up so much of the payroll. Even the Yankees, for my understanding, are saying they can't spend much more than they already have.

I liked A-Rod when he was with Seattle and Texas, but ever since he's been with New York I haven't liked him one bit. I don't really like any Yankees except for Jeter and Sheffield. I hate it that the Yankees have such a high payroll, but I love to see them lose every year in the playoffs.  |
