Well...I hope that he returns to Boston, however it appears the Mets are the frontrunners from what I've read, and the Yankees appear to be in the mix too...I didn't think NYY would be interested at all after the brawl Pedro had with them in the playoffs couple years ago, however the Yankees do what it takes to win. What do you guys think about the whole Pedro thing and where do you think he will end up?
Mets won't land Pedro. He'd be dumb to go to the Mets! Ortiz said that would never happen either and with the Yanks stealing Pavano from the Red Sox, there is no way they can afford not to resign Pedro unless they dont' care about winning the championship again next year.

It looks like the Mets won the bidding war for Pedro Martinez. The two sides have agreed in principle on a four-year deal worth $56 million, according to ESPN. Martinez went 16-9 with 3.90 ERA and 227 strikeouts last season for the Red Sox.

Martinez will join Tom Glavine, Kirk Benson, and Victor Zambrano to form one of the best rotations in the National League nest season. Martinez is coming off his worst season in years, with an ERA that was a full run higher than he had in any other season as a Red Sox. But he still has three quality pitches and will be motivated to prove that Boston should have resigned him, so he will enter 2005 as one of the top pitchers in the National League.
Yeah... and... uh... my Kansas City Royals... destined to be a basement team again...

Lol...feel sorry for ya Is...you guys will win the division sometime in the near future..... How many years that will be still has to be determined though
Too bad it won't get them anywhere...My Atlanta Braves, 14th Division Championship in a row here we come.
Mine too...but I don't know...I think we lost someone...too early to say who it is right now(meaning early in the morning, I just woke up)....I'll think of it, but we did bring in Kolb, so that means Smokin Smoltz will be in the rotation next year...GO Braves!!!
Russ Ortiz...went to Arizonam by way of FA....Atlanta didn't pick him up...
Pedro won't stay healthy the whole time there and he will be the next Mo Vaugh of the Mets.... they don't win their division and they spend their time planning for next year again. They always spend their FA on old players and turn up with nothing every year.

This is just a PR move for the mets. They are messing up not giving him a MRI. And to whoever said that their rotation will be nasty, I beg to differ. Glavine has sucked evry since becoming a Met and Pedro ain't as dominate as he once was. He's hurt more then people think. That's why they want give him a MRI. They are scare of what they will find.
sad sad day in baseball when the Mets make a move. Have they signed anyone in the last 4-5 years that has played to potential? Atleast this beats last years top acquisition of OF Mike Cameron.
They got him and to my surprise he passed the MRI I thought they were scared to give him. I might have been wrong. This might pan out to be a good signing for them. Only time will tell. We can only hope for the best.
