Baseball Has Lost a Fan

I am sure everyone has heard about the ongoing discussions about the use of steriods among professional baseball athletes. Well, the crap is hitting the fan, finally, with the confession by Jason Giambi and the testimony by Barry Bonds. I can go on and on about this, but here's the meat...

Giambi's lifestyle mixed with steriods has made him an even less of a player. I am not even sure the Yankees want him anymore.

Barry Bonds admitted to using steriods, but he didn't know he was. I listened to Jim Rome this mornign and I totally agree with him and a New York City reporter who he had on the broadcast. Who, in their right mind, cannot tell something is up with their body? Bonds claims he was given a cream and something else. I forget the exact ingredient but it had 'roids. Anyhow, he continued using it, even after becoming bigger. Did he actually think that his work ethic acpanded his chest and head by inches??? In my opinion, WTF!!!

Now, true greats like Maris and Hank Aaron have their record numbers behind such cheaters as Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, and Sammy Sosa. The cheaters have tarnished MLB and it's credibility. These cheaters will probably get away with it with little punishment, because MLB, the players' union, and that scarecrow commissioner want money and fame. Those records that those cheaters broke better, in the extreme least, have an asterik. That is unfair for the players of the past who actually excelled without any help.

I know there is better training now days... parks are different sizes... the pitching mound has had adjustments... but all of those do not suddenly make the longball easier. No, the juice does... and cheaters who handle the juice benefit from it. Bonds should have just flat out admitted he knew he was taking steriods. By him saying "I didn't know" alone made my respect for him disappear... and the respect for baseball.

I just read it for the first time and I cannot believe the words that come out of his mouth. Not only is he dancing around the issue, he becomes a smartass by the end of the article. If he is really such a great guy, he better start painting that picture better.

Baseball is crap nowdays. I'm even for drug tests at high schools, especially in the sports arena. Star athletes like Barry Bonds give kids the idea that such things are good and great for you.

I'm sorry, but this makes me really sore. I can't wait to hear what IS has to say

I dont' agree with calling Mark McGwire a cheater. He took forms of steriods that didn't have a ban in baseball at the time. He might of used the system to his advantage but he didn't do it illegally under the rules of the sport, if I'm not mistaken.

Did anyone honestly not believe that Bonds was on them in the first place? I think it was in the back of everyone's minds before this came out. I'm pretty sure everyone had their doubts, whether they believed it or not. I personally think both Bonds and Giambi should be suspended for at least a season, but it won't happen. I hate to see Bonds break the record now...I know it still takes skill to hit the ball, but he had advantages.

I'll still watch the Astros, simply because I've grown up watching them...I just hope none of these guys are on the juice.

Because 1) Bonds is a doushe bag 2) He's ruining the game of baseball and 3) His whole career is basically a lie... why stop now?

Barry Bonds had to know this day was going to come. What happened? Did he turn on SportsCenter every day for a year and hear "Barry Bonds has been accused of doing steroiuds" and get asked about steroids in all of his interviews if he uses steroids, and think "They'll never find out." I mean, he could've thought of a better lie, does he really think we're that stupid? (On second thought... we never tested him until now so maybe he thought he could put another one over on us)

That's all I have to say. Oh yeah, and if his records don't get wiped or at least an asterisk or something, then I probably won't watch baseball until the ******* retires.

LOL the fact that people don't realise its almost all athletes not just a select few that are taking roids makes me answer yes to your question about bonds thinking we are stupid..

FACE IT PEOPLE almost all athletes take steroids... DUH

Him, Bonds, Giambi, Brady Anderson, Bret Boone, Pujols..they all do it, Anderson, McGwire, Bonds, Giambi definates... Boone + Pujols went from small to big, and are now putting up big power numbers (especially Pujols). Brady Anderson had one season where he hit 50 + home runs, and I never think he had more then 25 in any other season in his WHOLE career...It's ashame what has happened, the people who use steroids..I am still a fan, but ashamed... I know theres more people who use them, these are just the names that come to my head right of the bat.

And I would call McGwire a cheater, he used them..That record should still be Roger's record. And the record that Bonds will break within the next 2 years of Henry Aaron's should still be his...I'm ashamed of what the athletes in this game have come to, but it's still my favorite sport..simply because its the game I love to play.

Anyone think Adrian Beltre, who never hit more then 21 Homeruns (I think) in 1 season was on steroids this year? I believe he hit more then 50 this year, if not more then he came close...I dunno if he was on roids, I always thought he'd be a good hitter, but NEVER expected 45 + homeruns outta him..You guys think he was on steroids?

McGwire still hit HR's before he took any substance, but the thing is he took like performance enhancing drugs and like I said any other substance that he took, which he admitted to taking wasn't a banned substance so thats not conidered cheating in my opinion. NOt that he took this but do you consider using creatin and **** like that cheating? I don't and like i said twice before he took substances which weren't under baseball's ban at the time. And wven with steriods you still need bat speed, an eye among other things to hit the long ball.

Yeah, I know that... I've said it before in another thread.

He does steroids, but Hammerin' Hank and all of the players during baseball's golden age didn't. Barry can do it all he wants but he should not be allowed to take the most prestigious record in baseball from an honest man.

About Pujols... I don't know if he's on steroids. Here's his career power numbers:

Steroids shoudl be considered an advance in technology.. as men our body naturally produces testosterone its what makes us men.. steroids is basically testosterone, so it makes you more of a man. Whats wrong with that? The body naturally produces vatamin E but people take it in suplements to make them more healthy.

People where better shoes now than they did 50 years ago and are now smart enough to put on helmets because of these advances in technology we should now put asterics on everything and say "we are smarter now and use better shoes, better turf, and better padding so these records don't really count"

We also know more about nutrition and training than we did before so those shoudl be asterics also..

The point is that steroids are not the aweful thing everyone is brought up to beleive they are. Steroids if used properly can benefit your body. But they are illegal. Why? Becuase if you take to much it can hurt you or if you do it inproperly it can hurt you. Well if you take to much Vitamin E which is a oil soluble vitamin not a water solutble vitamin it can also kill you.

Cigerretes have absolutely no benefit to your body they can only harm you yet they are legal. We have the right to decide to use something that kills us and destroys our body yet our government can make a law to outlaw something that can be potentially beneficial. I can decide to reshape my nose, make my legs longer, and restructure my jaw and chin, yet I cannot decide to put more testosterone in my body?

Face it our country is stupid, we are morons. Roids shoudl be legal as long as cigerretes are legal. You can not argue against that in any way. And trust me I'm sure I know more about steroids than anyone on this board.

BTW almost all atheletes have been on roids since the late 80's to early 90's.. the superhuman growth you are seeing in bonds (head getting bigger ) and stuff is Human Growth hormones not roids.. Roids don't make you that big.. fact is most guys you see that look big.. they are on roids. The guys that are huge.. they are using growth hormones. They lie that foolish peopel believe is that if they work out enough they can be the size of people they see that they think are "natural" the truth is without roids you are either big (strong) and fat or you are puny.
