Quinton Jackson upset Chuck Liddell to win the UFC light-heavyweight title Saturday night at UFC 71, dethroning the champion with a hard right to the chin in the first round.
This was a disappointing fight. I really thought Liddell would put up a better fight. I had a bet with my best friend that Jackson would win but I didn't think it would be this fast or this easy.
Thanks...Thanks a lot. You really shouldnt have named it that title...Its wrecked it for when I watch it...

Well it airs late tonight, so Im recording it and will likely have watched it by tomorrow. Im really looking forward to the rest...And Im kinda looking forward to the Rampage fight, cos I do like him...Its just I love Chuck, I think he is everything that epitomises a fighter in the UFC...(Just not as much as Forrest, what a guy he is).
And I know its not my decision, but I dont think any action should be taken against you, as firstly it is only really you and I, and Poetic in fact, that I know of here that really follow the UFC...And secondly, as it was just an innocent mistake...

Not Lidell's fault ... he got caught going in by a hook ... Jackson got lucky that he landed that hook and that ended the fight ... that's about it ...

Your lucky I like you Disturbed because that blows...I know now, lol.
So tell me.. why am I lucky? Where you going to jump through the computer screen and attack me?
Now as for the video GHS posted a link to....
I think there was some good stuff there. Excellent points brought up.
I enjoy a good boxing match more than UFC. The problem is , finding a good boxing match these days is rough.
In Boxing the Heavyweight division is what 90% of the people watch. They don't know about the other divisions or don't really care. The Heavyweight fights generally have the big knockouts which is what many want to see which leads to...
UFC being the sport of choice in the near future for many because of all the knockouts you see. Its usually fast paced action and the hits come fast and furious at times.
I enjoy both but if I was to pay for PPV I would choose UFC.
I agree with what they said, MMA is an art, but boxing is a science. Anyone can enjoy MMA because it's basically a toned down street fight. However, boxing is something that to watch on a regular basis you have to appreciate the subtleties of it, kinda like golf.
Well Rick, I think you are wrong having seen the fight. Liddell wasnt unlucky at all. If you get caught going in..Thats unlucky in most cases. But he got caught going OUT. He got sloppy and he paid for it.
I have to say, I want Forrest Griffin to one day hold the title..But Rampage Jackson is a funny guy and I dont mind him having it. I dont think anyone got ripped off. I love Chuck Liddell, my 3rd favourite fighter, but he lost fair and square there.
Ive not watched the video you posted yet GHS, Im letting it load because my net is running slow as hell. But whilst I agree its sort of like a street fight, its an unbelievably technical one. And I dont remember the last street fight I saw when they used Jiu Jitsu on one another...
The more you watch UFC, the more you can appreciate some of the skill sets. At the same time, I see exactly what you are saying about Boxing, it is not as accessible, Id agree with that. I love them both, as much as any sport out there, due to the fact there are subtleties...But at the same time, on the face of it, its just brutal.
And if you want to watch an exciting fighter Disturbed...David "The Haymaker" Haye. He just moved up to Heavyweight from Cruiserweight and could shake it up a bit. Im not as naiive as most to believe he could be the title holder, but at the same time, the division is weak right now, so you never know. His last fight, first at Heavy, he knocked the guy down 3 times in the first minute, and knocked him out in the same round. And the guy was no chump, he had only lost a couple of times..
Tho talk is, he wants a fight with Maccrenelli (Cruiser title holder) so he may put the heavy on the backburner...But at the same time, apparently there has been promotional difficulties with that, so it might not get set up..
But look out for him, he's entertaining to hear and watch.

Wow Ive only watched a bit, cos as I say, my internet is running slow. But this guy is not a good advertisement for boxing. And I think it is a microcosm of the big picture. Boxing is stubborn and set in its ways. He is comparing UFC to **** Fighting...He is a buffoon.

Joe Rogan is a great advertisment for the UFC, he really is. He showed up that schmuck. He almost made me not want to watch boxing (the boxing guy that is). Joe sang boxing's praises...And the guy (missed his name) couldnt accept that he could be a fan of boxing too...What a single minded penis.
The more aesthictically pleasing argument is pretty stupid, as I think some of the submissions, or sweeps, or clinches, are just as aesthitically pleasing as boxing is. Dont get me wrong, I love both. But that guy just showed us why its gonna fall behind quicker than I had at first thought..

Yeah, I went and downloaded the fight later on after Disturbed had posted this. I agree with you Titans, he got caught going out and Jackson just got a hell of a punch right to his chin and dropped him.
That was a fair as it gets, good clean fight, just not what people wanted to see.
It was a good fight though and a hell of a punch on Jacksons part.
Unfortunately for Liddell, he is going to have to get his rematch in QUICK. Or he wont get it at all. If he doesnt have it penned in before UFC 80, aint much chance he is getting it. Thats pretty much 9 months.
Firstly, his age, tho this may be an overstated factor as shown by Couture, will play into it, not only due to his body and whatever, but the desire to work his way back up might be lacking if it is slow..
Secondly, the fact that Rampage is gonna fight this Henderson coming from Pride..That might have a bearing.
And thirdly, there are a **** load of guys out there who in 9 months or so, will be very capable of holding the title. Griffin and Bisbing is probably just bias on my part, but aside from them, there are some tough guys at Light Heavy right now..Tito Ortiz of course still...
It was very unlucky for Chuck, not the fight itself, but the timing of it all now..Tho he will be able to cash in fighting one of these contenders that are coming up (I just really hope its not Bisbing, as he isnt ready for that yet). Or maybe, as talk was before the shock leg kick that knocked him out, Cro Cop moving down to light heavy to fight him...That would be pretty damn cool...Tho I dont think its gonna happen. He needs a big name quick, maybe even Tito again, so that he can get this title shot in the near future.
