Less then 2 weeks away from the release of a great game. I've noticed they have throwbacks this year which will be cool. Check it out if ya like....I cannot wait till it comes out!!!

January 18, 2005 - I can't ever remember a more tumultuous time in the history of sports video games. And just when you think you know it all, another bomb is dropped on your lap.
EA buys the NFL exclusive. EA buys the ESPN exclusive.
But now, here comes the counterpunch.
Rumors are circulating that the Take Two/Visual Concepts team is in negotiations to buy the exclusive MLB license, and negotiations are almost final. Visual Concepts is the company I had mentioned in a previous column as the ones who went out and locked up a long term deal with Major League Baseball after the NFL exclusive was announced, and now it looks like they were not only granted a long term deal, but are about to make it an exclusive. Word is, it could be an exclusive third party contract, meaning first-party publishers like Sony (989), Microsoft, and Nintendo will still be able to publish games using the real players and teams, but surprisingly, it's mega power EA who will be cut out of the loop.
On the NBA front, rumors are spreading throughout the industry that the league is now looking to sell genre-specific exclusives once current deals expire, meaning they want one company to publish sims (NBA Live, NBA 2K5), one to publish street-style games (NBA Street V3, NBA Ballers), and one to publish portables. Sources tell IGN Sports that there is already some major money on the table for each deal, and it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. The NBA has rejected initial bids for the all-encompassing exclusive, taking the competition from the courts to the negotiating table.
Whoa... does this mean no more MVP? Because I was about to go with MVP for the first time this year but if it's just gonna get cut off in the end what's the point right?

I went with MVP in 04 and I was very impressed...in the past I had gone with all star baseball but I didn't think they were as good as the old ones in 2000 and 01...I really hope they are able to find a place for MVP...
I've always played EA Sports titles. I love MVP baseball and can't see EA not producing baseball sims in the near future. Hopefully they will be able to work something out.
yeah I've tried ASB and didn't like the lay out. I've always played EA sports games as well and yes MVP 2004 was so awsome. It would suck for them to stop making games.
As for your point IS, I guess you're right. Why would people buy the game if it gonna be the last one. I don't know, but I guess I will spend $50 and buy it, for one, cause I love the game and 2, maybe they will keep going for years to come if people bought it. I don't know.
Anyway, I will never ever buy another baseball game if EA isn't the one making them.
I'm not going to say I never will, but it'll have to be a damn good game for me to purchase it. I just have always prefered EA game titles.
The only other game that I played that was better was Hardball 99. The game play was great but the graphis needed some work. Now if they got back into the Baseball game making buissness I'd buy it.
I've tried so many baseball games. I've had the Triple Plays when they were around, Hardball 99, ASB, MVP Baseball, MLB 99:00. High Heat etc...And MVP was by far the best, Hardball was pretty good..High Heat's statistics always seemed realistic when simming seasons as compared to MVP's..And that was something that I didn't like on MVP. For instance, Furcal would hit his usual 11-14 home runs in a season on High Heat where as in MVP he'd hit around 20-25..same with a bunch of other statistics..but the graphics weren't there in High Heat..Overall I'd say MVP is the best though, the graphics are much better then the other games.
The MVP kinda sucked until last year though didn't it? Anyways, who is this Visual Concepts company? Is that ASB or what?

MVP has always been good I think, and yes I agree with James, stats are a little more than real. With MVP, there were HR derby's in living rooms, you can unlock old time players like Satchel Paige and play them in a season, that I loved. Last year, they had it to where you can play the minor league teams, which was bad aZZ!!!!!!!!!!!
Visual Concepts, I have no clue who they are, and really, I don't care for them already. I will never buy sh*t of theirs! I guess I might start buying basketball games again....SIGH!!!!!

I only play baseball and football now...both football and of course, MVP baseball...I get bored with the other games...Basketball and what not. I love baseball and I love football...there is so much you can do with them..basketball, there isn't. I just hate the way basketball works, it's worse then Madden on All Madden.

I love the March Madness games, but NBA Live just sucks if ya ask me. I play March Madness, Madden, and MVP..with some Tiger Woods, NHL, NCAA Football mixed in every now and then.
I wanna play Tiger woods and a bowling game and the Chess Masters..but I haven't gotten them yet.
The reason I hate basketball games is, you shoot, yo umiss they get 50 rebounds a game and 30 steals....you try to steal and you get called for a foul. I can not stand that...

fo' show...LOL...I agree...I have NBA Live...and I hate it...all the NBA games are unrealistic...guys can't play 44 minutes a gme...if you sim a season with adjusted sliders....your subs average about 10 minutes a game and the starters average 45 points and 22 rebounds....same with NBA 2k5
I like College Hoops 2K5 myself. It's a great game. The crowd gets on my nerve but other than that it pretty cool. I like the game play in MM05 but it doesn't let u import rosters to NBA Live 05 so I don't play it anymore. Plus the only good thing about Live is the Allstar Weekend.

Yes it does, doesn't it? I'm pretty sure it does let you import the rosters..
No it doesn't. It has this new scout during the middle of the season thing going on. It"s in both games. Therefore you can only draft the people u scout. So u have to draft the players they put in the game.
ya MM sucked this year and you can only put in names for like 6 teams
I liked March Madness this year... I played it all the time until my PS2 crapped out on me.
