At least no more than the other officials who have given Kobe technical fouls to the tune of a league-leading 11. Maybe, instead of being so concerned with Mark Cuban, Phil should be worried about the new rule in place that causes a player to be suspended a game after he gets his 16th technical foul of the season. And if I remember correctly, every technical after 16 results in a 1-game suspension as well. Can't wait to hear what he has to say when that happens.
They have played 49 games so far...at this rate, Kobe will have ~18 by the end of the year.....wonder if it carries over into the playoffs..... I can see it now, Kobe gets a TF and tossed out of a playoff game and has to miss the next one....
That would be great, I hate Kobe a lot. Nothing, in the NBA at least, would make me happier to see Kobe thrown out in a crucial Game 7 and the rest of the pitiful Lakers roster left to fend for themselves.
haha, isn't ironic how Short hates Kobe but love T.O.

Yeah...He is definately in his last time where he can techincal foul without consequence...It is gonna bite him in the *** if he doesnt watch it...

And just because you say he did doesn't mean he did either...
Better be careful with your public slander
I'm not even really trying to say he did...fact is, we'll never know unless he confesses to it or if the girl confesses to lying about it. I know I said the "T.O. never raped anyone" comment, but I was really making a joke, didn't mean for it to be taken seriously. That's not the real reason I hate Kobe.
Just because a player gets a lot of tech fouls doesn't mean he has an attitude problem. Charles Barkley used to get a ton of them and people always talked about how they loved playing with Barkey.
To even think abour comparing Kobe and TO as far as attitude... wow. I don't even know how to respond to that.

true, i guess a good player could get tons and tons of techs
lol fine then who has a bigger attitude problem then TO?

well, the only reason I would say Randy Moss over T.O. is because Randy just tried to one up T.O. Terrell does it natually, Moss does it whenever T.O. does it.

It's a lot of players who have just as bad of an attitude as T.O. When Rodman played B-ball he had a very bad attitude. Barkley spit on a fan plus he's beat a few of them up in a bar. In sports today u can even say Sean Taylor, he's got court dates pending for trying to be a bad ***. I don't like T.O. all that much but he ain't gotten arrested that I know of.
Both bad mouthed and called out star teamates on their teams.
both broke up championship caliber teams
and both are fierce competitor on the field/court who no one questions their heart, ability to take over a game, or dominance in their respective leagues.
difference off the field TO hasn't had an arrest for a felony.
difference on the field Kobe has 3 championships to none for TO.

that's all I have to say about that topic
hmmm good observations, the 3 championships is the heavier thing tho compared to the felony, because it seems everyone is getting into some kind of trouble with the law, while not everyone is winning 3 championships, except a few people of course
you could also say: difference TO's attorny has his own saying "No Comment, Next Question please" 1 point TO!

Kobe didn't "break" up the Lakers. The owner broke that team up. He is the one who decided it was better to trade Shaq than to pay him. Plain and simple.
I don't recall Kobe going and publicly calling out Shaq when they were teammates. I do remember several reports that they had problems but I don't ever remember anything where Kobe went on national TV and called out Shaq. Feel free to prove me wrong here because I could be but I don't remember it.
Kobe was arrested yes, but never was he proven guilty. So that comment holds no water. You can sit here and argue all day that he was or wasn't guilty but the fact is that he was never proven to be guilty.
Kobe ran Shaq out of town... that's been said dozens of times.
And if I remember correctly Shaq and Kobe went back and forth at each other through the media while they were teammates.

Actually, Charlie Rosenhaus, his agent has his own saying...
As for Kobe running Shaq out of L.A. He most certainly did. The Staples center wasn't big enough in Kobe's eyes for his ego, and Shaq's.
Drew Rosenhaus...close enough .
And I agree that Kobe forced Shaq out of L.A. There was some public jawing at each other back and forth, though not as much as the whole T.O.-Donovan saga. And who knows what Kobe was saying at practice, to the coaches, etc. There's a reason why they only just now (few weeks ago I think) shook hands before a game and said anything to each other...and the media made such a big deal over it, too. Its not proven, but my best guess is that Kobe had a big part in Shaq's departure from L.A.
Actually.. the rift between Shaq and team management started the preseason the year before Shaq was traded. Shaq went thru the media and told Buss that if he didn't want to pay him to trade him. Then Buss responded with telling Shaq, thru the media, that he needed to lose weight and be more productive.
Kobe and Shaq both had egos too big to fit into one team. NEITHER player was willing to set thier ego aside or to try to work together. I would have traded Shaq also.
--------------- Madden 2007 Next Gen football ---------
As far as Shaq and Kobe going back and forth in the media, they took small jabs at each other. Nothing like what went on with Owens.

After making numerous attempts to have Bryant traded both last year and in the 1999-2000 season, Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss who vowed never to trade Bryant turned Jackson down. Jackson stated that his frustration with Bryant became so severe that he expressed to general manager Mitch Kupchak that he would consider leaving the Lakers coaching staff. "I won't coach this team next year if he is still here. He won't listen to anyone. I've had it with this kid," Jackson wrote.
The transcript of Kobe Bryant's interview with ESPN's Jim Gray:
Quote:
GRAY: What was your reaction to Shaq saying the Lakers are his team, and everybody knows it?
BRYANT: It doesn't matter whose team it is. Nobody cares. I don't, Karl [Malone] doesn't, Gary [Payton] doesn't, and our teammates and the fans don't either. There's more to life than whose team this is. But this is his team, so it's time for him to act like it. That means no more coming into camp fat and out of shape, when your team is relying on your leadership on and off the court. It also means no more blaming others for our team's failure, or blaming staff members for not overdramatizing your injuries so that you avoid blame for your lack of conditioning. Also, "my team" doesn't mean only when we win; it means carrying the burden of defeat just as gracefully as you carry a championship trophy.
GRAY: Do you consider Shaq to be a leader?
BRYANT: Leaders don't beg for a contract extension and negotiate some 30 million [dollars] plus per year deal in the media when we have two future Hall of Famers playing here pretty much for free. A leader would not demand the ball every time down the floor when you have the three of us [Malone, Payton, Bryant] playing beside you, not to mention the teammates you have gone to war with for years -- and, by the way, then threaten not to play defense and rebound if you don't get the ball every time down the floor.
GRAY: Shaq says that you have not been a team player. Is he right?
BRYANT: That's ridiculous. I have been successfully sacrificing my game for years for Shaq. That's what Phil [Jackson] wanted me to do, so I did it. Last year Phil told me Shaq was not in physical condition to carry the trust of our offense, so he asked me to do it. But then he saw Shaq was getting upset that the team wasn't running through him, so Phil asked me to pull back and I did. This year is no different; my role is whatever Phil wants it to be. Period.
GRAY: Through out the preseason, your leg and conditioning has been lagging. Are you in the proper shape to start the season?
BRYANT: My knee is not strong enough to play yet. I know it. When it is I will play.
GRAY: Does that mean you will miss the opener [Tuesday] night and other games?
BRYANT: I probably won't play tomorrow night or until I'm ready. But I don't need Shaq's advice on how to play hurt. I've played with IVs before, during and after games. I've played with a broken hand, a sprained ankle, a torn shoulder, a fractured tooth, a severed lip, and a knee the size of a softball. I don't miss 15 games because of a toe injury that everybody knows wasn't that serious in the first place.
GRAY: Kobe, Shaq said if you didn't like what he had to say you can opt out and leave next season. Will you leave the Lakers?
BRYANT: I won't make that decision until the end of the season. I told Shaq last year that I was planning on opting out. He knew before anyone. I told him out of respect for what we have been through together. I thought he should be the first to know. The fact that he acts like this is such a big shock is a mystery to me. If leaving the Lakers at the end of the season is what I decide, a major reason for that will be Shaq's childlike selfishness and jealousy.
GRAY: Do you feel Shaq has been supportive in regards to your legal situation?
BRYANT: He is not my quote unquote "big brother." A big brother would have called to lend his support this summer. I heard absolutely nothing from him. I spoke to Devean [George], Rick [Fox], Mitch [Kupchak], Phil, and our owner Jerry Buss. And Shaq's own Uncle Jerome called and left three messages. Other teammates like Derek [Fisher], Mark [Madsen], and [Stanislav Medvedenko] left messages as well. Opponents called like [Chris] Webber, [Mike] Bibby, and many others. So did a lot of coaches. Michael Jordan, who didn't have my home phone, tracked it down to lend his support. So did Tiger Woods. But yet from my so-called big brother, I heard nothing.
GRAY: Why not resolve this behind closed doors? Why is this so public?
BRYANT: I asked Phil on Sunday [yesterday] to say something to calm this situation down before it boiled over. But he backed away, so now here we are. I have been a bigger person every time something happened with Shaq, and I don't expect this to be any different. But somebody in this organization had to speak up, because his unprofessionalism hurt us last year, and I don't want it to hurt us this year.
