Epiphanny Prince of Murry Bergtraum High School scored 113 points in a game Wednesday, breaking a national prep record previously held by Hall of Famer Cheryl Miller.
Prince, a 5-foot-9 senior guard, led her team to a 137-32 victory over Brandeis High School.
I wonder why they had her play that much. I don't really know women's basketball, but when the other team has 30 points, and you're hovering around 100, shouldn't you maybe put the freshmen in?

I think that's amazing. She's gotta be pretty good to do something like that. By the way, I thought Lisa Leslie had the record in high school. She scored like a hundred points in a game before if I'm not mistaken.
Oh yeah. This is kinda on the same subject. There is a guy here that scored 21 points in 75 secs here about 2 weeks ago. Now that's bannanas. His feat was done while they were trying to comeback. The lost but it was still a impressive task to pull off. I'll try to find the article and post it for you guys.
Bad sportsmanship, IMO. I mean, on one side, yeah she's going for the record and having an unbelieveable performance, it wouldn't be right to stop her. But come on now, you're beating the other team by nearly 100 POINTS! Show some mercy...
I think she was just running up the court and shooting, or blowing by everyone and laying it up. This story was in my local newspaper, which said she shot 54-60 or something like that. Hell of a shooting percentage, but I've never heard of someone shooting 60 shots in a high school game. The game was probably only 35-40 minutes long. She probably took almost all of the team's shots.
But hey, give credit where credit is due...113 points is incredible.

They said once she had 58 at half time they decided to let her go for it....in that Ariticle it says she passed Leslie i think...They also said that one chick had 101 points in ONE half!! and the other team refused to play the second half...and that the Highest by a boy in Highschool is 135 set in like 1960
Why did she even have 58 at halftime? It had to be like somewhere around 64-15 at that point... it's over...
If I was a coach once it got to around 40-10, I'd have taken her out.

Lisa Leslie had 101 points at HALFTIME of a game and the other team refused to play the 2nd half.
i dont know about yall's highschools....but most run up the score....we were losing to Beaumont Ozen 50 something to 21 when we pulled our starters out...they kept theres in and went on to finish the game beating us 71-29 we are still in the hunt for the playoffs.....tied for 3rd place right now and top three get into the playoffs well like i said alot of Highschools run the score...
My school plays mostly tough schools, but when we play the cupcakes we let the other kids play.

Haha, but don't you go to a Catholic school? Wouldn't want to run up the score...
Our school never has a chance to run up the score...lol
Impressive feat by the girl anyhow... Am I the only one that tinks by 50 points they would put all 5 people on the floor on her? Honestly... foul her... do something?
Theres the article i got it from....and yes in there it says that Leslie was the one to do that.....i dont know....our coach usally puts our back ups in when we are ahead by like 20.....but like i said before alot of teams run it up...its not that big of a deal
I know around here, if teams are big rivals then the coaches will run up the score. I played in a game my freshman year where we were down 69-0 in football, it was the 4th quarter and our freshman were in and the other coach kept his first string guys in.
But come on now, you're beating the other team by nearly 100 POINTS! Show some mercy....
Never show mercy to the enemy. If I were coaching a team I would never let up, never stop scoring until the clock reads 00:00. You play to win the game. You play to beat the other guy. Dont ever let up and give them a chance to come back, never.
Would you want to be remembered as the Guy or the Team that was on the bad end of the greatest come back ever. It happens. Chances might be on your side that it wont. But I am damn sure that I dont want to be the one who let up and then the other team came back.
Besides all that, there are always tie breakers to think about. One tie breaker in just about every sport at every level is points scored.

Completely agree... if High School sports want Mercy.. then they need to add mercy rules..

Ok, good. In my opinion, you're an idiot. Good thing I can't be wrong!
Timothy 2:12
Obviously this Brandeis High School Head Coach has no idea what hes doing, has he ever heard of the concept Team Defense, cause 113 points in unacceptable, this coach doesn't deserve to keep his job

Hell, I remember when I was in 8th grade...in 1989-90...our girls basketball team beat an opponent like 70-0. I don't remember the exact amount of points OUR team scored, but they SHUT OUT the other team...in BASKETBALL!! They SHUT THEM OUT! How do you not score in basketball???
Personally I think it was a good thing to keep her in. She'll remember it the rest of her life, and she has got a bunch of publicity out of it...

I doubt that a girls team that averaged 16 points in a half can come back to score 50 unanswered, and in the off chance that they even score 25, you can always put the girl back in. It's obvious the other team couldn't stop her.

I know...even more stupid was the opposing coach. After being wasted by her in the first half wouldn't you tell the whole team just to guard her? I mean come on, is she so amazing she can score on 5 players at once?
High School sports are not meant to show mercy, sometimes you have to make an example out of a team in order to intimidate teams in your region, its all part of it, play till the end, maybe throw in a starting JV kid in once in a while but never stick more then 3 JV/freshman in, you need to keep your varsity's confidence up as well, even if your a big school playing a small school continue to hit the shots, maybe run plays you wouldnt regularly run, so you can get that in-game experience with some of the harder to achieve plays... practice and no mercy is what high school sports is about now a days it seems
--------------- Madden 2007 Next Gen football ---------
congratz to her tho, 113 is truely a feat. to be astonished by! great job

When you're beating a team by 50, I don't think you have to worry about your team's confidence.
And what play are they running? I mean seriously... unless the play that is hard to execute is "throw the ball to Epiphanny" I don't think they're running anything too challenging.

But I am saying that I am not going to be the guy to play the odds on this one. I am not going to be the guy that says "Well they have sucked the whole first half so I think I will let up a little, There is no way they can come back."
That is not in the rules any where. And I am not about to be the Titans.

Confidence can come from anything, i mean from the fans, from the articles about you in the newspaper, anything can build confidence along with beating a team by more and more points, and tho it may have been the most amount of points they have lost to, im sure they have been killed just about every time... so i mean they were probably use to that kinda punishment
and what type of play? nothing specific, hmmmm i was using that as overall high school sports thing, football, basketball, soccer, hockey, just about any sport except wrestling, cuz that can go from GREAT to DISASTER in seconds...

Hmm, I'm not sure about the Lisa Leslie thing... I saw in the Dallas Morning News that the old record was held by Cheyrl Miller but that could be wrong...
