Boston World Champs
Tonight the Celtics destroyed the heavy favored Lakers to win a record 17th NBA Champship...Congrats to all the Celtic players for winning the big one. I remember the beginnin of the season the sportcasters said this team wouldnt go anywhere with Perkins and Rondo as the starting Center and Point Gaurd. Then they made it to the NBA Finals and 9 out of 10 ESPN Sportcasters picked the Lakers because they thought the Lakers had better depth. Celtis out played them and out coached them the entire time and Kobe Bryant didnt look like an MVP....again Congrats to the Celtics for winning there 17th NBA champship

I was happy to see them win it surprising since I hate Boston sports, which is not too surprising since I'm from New York. I wanted to see Kevin Garnett and of course UConn alum Ray Allen win the title.
I just hate the Lakers so that's probably what wanted me to see Boston win it the most. Can't stand Kobe, even though he's arguably the best player in basketball - but he sure didn't play like it at times.
It was such a thrashing too - the Celtics absolutely destroyed them.

Celtics did destroy them and Kobe is only the best when an average player is guarding him not a Paul Pierce.

I don't really follow basketball in the least as it is basically my least favourite team sport. My girlfriend is a Lakers fan so when they lost the first two games, I started to watch the series in hopes of giving her support/bringing her team luck (which worked until the Lakers blew the 24 point lead in game 4).
I have to say though, I really enjoyed this series, as it was pretty exciting. It also was missing one of the major irks I have with the sport (in particular the NBA). Anytime I ever seemed to watch previously, for the most part it was big monsters getting slam dunks which when they're 7 feet tall I find quite boring. This series really didn't have that, in fact the only ones I recall seeing were the ones off steals to put emphasis on the teams great stretch of play and cause the crowd to explode even further than they already had.
The Lakers were sloppy as hell (in combination with the Celtics playing well) last night, everytime I looked at the TV Boston was coming up with a turnover, again and again and again.
Will I get into liking the NBA because of this series? I highly doubt it, but it was an interesting Finals nonetheless.

The Lakers didn't have a chance. The Celts are a way better team.

This was a very intersting series tho. Every game except the last one had seem like a huge leads cut down and in the 4th quarter one of the teams pulling it out.

I was just proud to see my boy Paul Pierce get a national championship. When a Jayhawk leads his team to victory, it's always good.

Well to be honest it was more Ray Allen shutting down Paul Pierce than anything else. Pierce only defended Kobe a few times and when he did that was when Kobe actually started to improve.

I wanted to watch this series mostly because I wanted to see Pierce,Allen, and KG get there rings and that happened. I could not believe how much energy the Celtics had in game 6 they were all over the place and the Lakers had no answer for it they looked really flat. Congrats to the Celtics.

Kobes teammates failed him. They just aren't good enough. They are all mediocre talents and Kobe makes them look better. Kobe was doubled the whole series and if he made a move anywhere towards the basket there were sometimes 4 guys on him, and yet he would dish to his teammates and they would screw it up.
The Lakers need to get him a wingman. But the Celtics defense played great.. when all you have to do on defense is stop one guy.. it's easy to play great,

If Bynum hits the ground running next season and continues being a 12/10 center then this series will be much closer. I think both these teams will be meeting next season.

I dont think Bynum would have helped them that much...early in the year Perkins crused Bynum both times...And now since that lost the Kobe comparing him to Jordan is over. because Jordan wouldnt have let that happen to him.

The thing is, Bynum kept getting better and better every week and by now he should be one of the better true centers in the NBA. Not to mention this would move Gasol and Odom back to their natural positions for the series and that would help in addition to Bynum helping. Not to mention I said next year, when this squad will have more chemistry. The Lakers starting 5 never played together with both big men.
