Coaching System in Franchise Mode
I have been playing Madden games since I got a super nintendo in 1995. And one thing that I hate that never gets added is the ability to just sign any free agent into your system.
I think there should be a system rating for every player in the game. Lets say your starting quarterback is injured in franchise mode, your back up quarterback is less than usible. You either sign a new starter out of free agency or trade for someone. And majically, this quarterback is able to step right into the started role and do extremely well.
I think there should be a few week learning curve for the player to learn the system. And also a rating system that allows you to see how familiar this player in free agency or through trade is with your teams system. If he's played in a west-coast style before and you run a west-coast style offense, then it wont take him as long to learn the system and run it effectively. If he's used to a deep passing system, such as a Dante Culpepper, than he would not perform well in a west coast offense for quite some time until he can effectively learn the new system. The same can be done for running backs whether its a speed running game or a power running game. As well as defenses for a blitzing defense or a cover 2 defense.
I think the game would be so much more fun to play with these life like situations put into play. You cant expect someone to just jump into the starting line-up...he needs time to learn.
Training camp must also do somewhat the same thing, if a player misses training camp...he should struggle for quite some time until he can effectively learns the system. So when Jeremy Shockey decides to play Basketball through training camp, then he will not be ready to play effectively until a few weeks into the season.
I'm a big vikings fan. I saw how Dante Culpepper struggled in a new offense. I saw how Koren Robinson was unable to be used in the offense until midway through the season when he had an actual grasp on the offense. I am I the only one who thinks madden would greatly improve with this aspect added to the game.
