Test It!
Take 10 minutes and go test my speed range theory before you jump to any conclusions. Example, edit 2 RB's make 1 (95 speed for Player A) make the other (99 speed for Player B) run a toss play for both of them from the 50 yard line. Simply get outside and move RB to the line of scrimmage and stop (make sure no one blocks your path to the endzone), now run with speed burst into the endzone. Instant replay the play and keep the screen with the button controls and the little timer on (use select button on PS2). Pick a specific time, for example as timer changes to 4 seconds (use slow motion to get exact yard line player is at as timer turns to 4 seconds). Then let replay resume at normal speed from the 4 second point (say player A was at 45 yard line as it turned 4 and he reaches the 6 yard line as timer turns to 8 seconds) Player A ran 39 yards in 4 seconds. After you do the same for Player B (say he was at the 43 when it turned to 4 seconds and guess what he made it to the 4 yard line at the 8 second mark). Player B ran 39 yards in 4 seconds as well. I didn't make these speed ranges up, EA did so my problem is with them. I want acceleration to mean something as well.
Didn't any of you ever wonder why you could only create players with 95 speed as the maximum. Its because 95 speed is the maximum speed a player can run, not 99. All you have to do is test it. Prove me wrong that EA uses speed ranges for players.
