The fact practices (in May as well) are attended and reported on by journalists just illustrates this. Time for a 20-game season, nice round number - course then all season records go out the door.

Whats been going on with the Raiders though? Did they only have half a team last year? They're signing so many players, you'd think their sallary cap is $200m. Their setup now might be decent for a season or two, but I think the 49ers are going the better route by, uh, not having an average starter age of 35.
