you know a good example of this was a couple years ago in 2001...the Seattle Mariners were a year removed from losing Ken Griffey Jr. (which was a great decision for their franchise because he has been injureed evry season since) and one year removed from losing Alex Rodriguez.
when they were doubted and everyone counted them out, they grabbed Ichiro and tied a record fro most wins ever in a season (116)...it wasnt about the money it was team unity and thats what wions championships
